We Just Witnessed The Warriors Ruin Their Future

The Warriors need helo #nba

The Warriors started the season 5-1 with Curry going off, but it quickly went downhill, a lowpoint being the Warriors losing to the Grizzlies without 4 of their starters and right now they are 10th in the West.

They are trying to win a championship, not be stuck fighting for a play in spot, but they have been inconsisten

*You might think that the Warriors core is old and you’d be right.* Curry is, Klay is, Dray is, but the Warriors have actually stockpiled multiple lottery picks during their short stint of being ass between 2019 and 2021. Jordan Poole at the end of the first round in 2019, they drafted Wiseman with the #2 overall pick in 2020, then Kuminga, Moody in 2021.

Coming into the draft, Wiseman was hailed a physically dominant 7 foot center that could shoot.

The Warriors would finally have a big man of the future and it seemed unfair. I mean the Warrriors have a great track record for developing talent with Curry, Klay, Draymond, even Gary Payton, Poole at the same time period.

He eventually got traded to the Pistons in his 3rd season, the Warriors gave up.

In their championship season, the front office wanted the Warriors to develop their young talent. Wiseman, Kuminga, Moody. Both Bob Myers and Steve Kerr have repeatedly said that they were genuinely surprised that they won last year, that they had a lot of doubts

At least that’s what I said a year and a half ago.

Now the Warriors have more promising young players like Brandin Podziemski, Traycon-Jackson Davis, but still haven’t decided.

And if we look at Kuminga’s minutes for instance, he’ll play 19 minutes one night, then 28 the other, then back to not finishing games in the clutch.

especially when he’s no longer the rookie that makes several boneheaded mistakes, he’s taken a leap especially defensively which we’ll get into in Piece 2.

And Moody, he’ll still get DNPs this season.

Kuminga even said “"Obviously, I'm still a little nervous because I'm still younger on the team where if you lose the ball sometimes, you might come out.” He doesn’t enough faith in his team and coaches to let him play through mistakes and why would he.

Now usually the veterans have been the stable options but not this year and that’s piece #2, the Warriors are alienating their own future in a time where the veterans are struggling and not leading to results. And this young vs old dynamic has been emphasized more because of Wiggins. Wiggins statistically has been one of the worst players in the league in terms of impact.

And by now you should know that Klay Thompson has been inconsistent, but if you don’t, here are some of Klay’s performances 3 points in a loss to Dallas, 1 of 11 from the field, 5 points against OKC, 1 of 10, bro what…several single digit performances along with 7 3 pointers and 30 points against the Bulls.

In fact even looking at his overall stats, he’s shooting 38% from 3, worse than his return season from the Achilles tear, his lowest ever in his career. It’s not that Klay can’t go off, it’s that he’s inconsistent and while that sucks to see, it’s a new reality for the Warriors and what they have to deal with this season.

And Klay’s defense is just not great…Klay and Wiggins on pick and rolls have been hard to watch this season.

It’s why Kerr was forced to bench Klay after waiting more than half the season hoping the old Klay would come back, and while there isn’t anything wrong with that, you would hope that younger players would get the same treatment.

It’s actually the younger players that have been providing consistency.

Brandin Podziemski in his rookie year in just 27 minutes a a game is averaging 9.7 points on 38% from 3, with 5.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists while also creating his own shots. In fact he’s part of the Warriors best lineup. Give him more opportunities. His usage rate has declined a little bit while his minutes have skyrocketed, the next step is to trust him more, more than what Wiggins or Klay have been able to give you.

Now Kerr has found a role for Kuminga to thrive alongside Wiggins in the new Warriors small ball lineup. Curry, Klay, Wiggins, Kuminga, Green and it’s been working. Defensively holding teams to 106.9 defensive rating in 569 minutes, which would be best in the NBA.

These younger players aren’t feelings that same love and so what happens a few years down the road when these players want bigger opportunities?

And that’s the third piece, the veterans need to step up.

Steph Curry started out averaging over 30 points in a game, but had a midseason slump, especially without Draymond. But for the Warriors to have any shot, they need him to basically be an MVP and while that’s not out of the realm of possibility, it’s a tall task.

Chris Paul has been a bit of a disaster, we all know that his curse usually happens in the playoffs but he improves the team in the regular season but not this time.

So what should the Warriors do now? I'ma try to reply to more comments to debate with y'all

Steve Kerr should pay Kuminga a portion of his salary moving forward because he's cost that kid a LOT of money. How do you have a young talent like this and just keep looking for reasons to bench him!?
  • @DRIC159
ngl wiggins should be at his peak at his age, it's just that, he wasn't the same after that incident.

Much needed video MJ. Loved it every minute of it. It has been very painful to watch warriors play this season. Your video gave me clarity of warriors chaos. Your videos are the best one out there.😊. GROW

Honeslty, always liked wiggs but whatever personal issue he’s going through is affecting the team, moody should be starting for him and Kuminga and TJD proved they deserves the minutes

Sometimes you wonder, would Mike Brown staying as the assistant coach have made any difference. I personally think he would have. What he's done with Sacramento shows his caliber. So I believe he definitely would have been able to help Kerr sort out his lineups and maybe even develop some of the young talent.
  • @future62
Kerr is like that dude who treats all women like shit after getting cheated on once lol. Wiseman is gone, let the young boys cook
  • The issue is Kerr didn’t have a hand in developing that core. So we can’t expect him to develop the talent now into form. And he has shown us for the last 5ish years that he cannot

Y'all gonna hate me for saying this, but they should have been traded Green and Thompson. The bag they would have gotten, would have been massive. Klay should have retired after that last chip and Draymond should have learn how to score better, to help Curry. IMO. 😅

I'm not sure what your saying... Kerr IS playing the young players. Podz starts; JK starts. TJD is playing over both Looney and Saric. CP3 has been awesome. This year's warriors simply aren't consistent enough to make a serious run at a championship.
  • @Chick6n
"They need curry to step up" when he's basically been carrying the team on his back for most of the season. Steve Kerr can lift a good amount of the load off of him by playing the younger players more, and now Dramond has gotten more of his act together, but Steph is still carrying the warriors throughout the season. You can see it in the games, Steph just looks tired now because he's been trying so hard the entire season.
  • @curtbuckmire9194
Steve Kerr is turning out to be a coach like Phil Jackson. He can only coach superstars.
  • @Texan45
Same music as John Wick Chapter 3 when he's loading his Kimber mags in his belt holster 😂❤

I watched a defensive analysis of the Warriors v Knicks and as a person in their 50's myself, I'm sorry to say they just look old! Their past championship core of Steph, Draymond and Klay are just jogging on hustle plays, not getting into proper defensive sets, and their double teams on Brunson were the worst I've seen as a Knick fan, just standing several feet away with their arms raised and zero ball pressure. Chris Paul is almost 40! There's a couple bright young talents but I feel a rebuild coming on this off season.
  • @Damackism
The fact of the matter is the young players are not ready yet. Opputunities for young players does not equal wins. I am not saying you dont need the younger.Because you do. But you need vets to provide stability and experience. Klay may be inconsistent but he is the teams second leading scorer stat wise. Wiggins lack of consistent production offensively and defensively is really why Klay is coming off the bench. Wiggins at his best covers for Klays inconsistency and lack of athleticism. Which Wiggins was in the 2021-2022 Warriors championship season. Sadly Wiggins has not been that type of player. If Wiggins was averaging 18 pts per game while playing lock down defense and averaging 7 to 8 boards a game. Then Klays on and off shooting nights and inconsistent defense wouldn't be an issue.Because the Warriors were fine with it for the past 2 seasons. Up until this season. Only time you decide to go all in and play your young players is during a rebuilding year. When you really got nothing to play for. Outside of just developing and giving you young players playing time. Kuminga should be happy he even got minutes and been given the green light to be productive within the time given to him. Podz is basically Vicencinzo 2.0. He can finish at the rim, hit 3 pt shots, and do the dirty work like rebound. But he isnt scaring anyone offensively or defensively. He is a promising rookie that right now plays and has the basketball IQ of an 7 yr NBA veteran. TJD as a rookie coming off the bench is solid. It hard to see how high is potential his as a big. Because he has no post game,no mid range game, and has really shown how good he can be defensively. Because he hasnt had many minutes. and hasnt played against the leagues best big men. Wiseman did have a mid range shot and 3 pt shot. Wiseman just didnt have a high basketball iQ. But Wiseman when given the minutes will get you 15 to 18 pts per game.
  • @T1Oracle
They did that when they traded Poole and kept Draymond. Locker room cancer! Regardless, if they did right by Poole I bet we'd still have his 2021 form right now. They also wouldn't have felt pressured into that silly contract.
  • @I_-guess
You know it’s a good day when mj2k posts
  • @Syberz2
Looney is the only young player Kerr has developed in nearly a decade. He was so determined to do 1 year rentals that he's now left holding a culture bag left in the absence of developing new talent.
  • Wiggins winning a ring did him more damage than help him. Won a ring and decided he's just going to coast
