One of the favourite and most iconic films of my childhood.
Whilst this film does have its inaccuracies, Emperor Commodus really did use to fight opponents and cheatingly wound them before the fight began. In the end, after making several enemies amongst himself, Commodus was assassinated in AD192 by a wrestler in his own bath.

The best line was the last line; "He was a soldier of Rome. Honor him." Brought tears to my eyes. Still does.

Now that I’m almost 40 married and a father of 2 boys , Maximuis purpose and pure motivation hits me way harder now that I could imagine his situation and pain ! Truely a masterpiece!

I come here now and then to rinse my eyes of the disappointment on TV nowadays. And be reminded that it used to be great and there’s hope. 23yrs later this masterpiece remain glorious to be rewatched over and over again ⚔️

My big son name is Maximus,he's 22 years old now and proud with he's name. I watch the movie more then 200 times and I have Maximus tatto on my hand and on both chest he's horses Scarto and Argento. ❤❤❤

It is such a poignant edit! Maximus was such a powerful role. There is so much to learn from him: the strength of character and resilience, courage, devotion, stoicism, simplicity and most of all ethical leadership! We need leaders like him, who care more about people and their fate, not power, wealth and glory. The contrast with Commodus illustrated this beautifully. There must be more of such inspirational movies.

To be honest, I don't believe Gladiator needs a sequel as it was a perfect standalone story. I don't know how Ridley Scott's going to top this.
