  • The best way to look at missing out on the other one with the tub is that now you don’t have to give your money to the landlord every month. If they treated that interaction with you in that way, I can’t imagine they would be a joy to deal with should something come up. Glad you got what you wanted. 🎉
  • Aw wish I could hug you through the screen. Apartment hunting takes such an emotional toll, don't even downplay your emotions. Happy everything worked out!! <3
  • @ErinH83
Ugh! So happy for you!! I do empathize with your statement of knowing what the next year of your life will be. I'm 41, own my home, and still often feel like I don't know!! Very excited to see what you do with the place!

Awe, you tearing up, i wanted to hug you through the screen! Never down play your emotions, house hunting brings more emotions forward I feel - knowing that that is where your next chapter starts, waking up, coming home, we picture our furniture and all, dinner nights with friends and fam... it can be emotional. I'm sooo happy you found what you were looking for and can't wait for the DIYs to come for this space, 'cause we all know the sorry girls hook each other up!!! Lol. Congrats on your beautiful home.

I know it's really disappointing to have lost the second apartment, but when I moved to Toronto and was embarking on apartment-hunting, I was advised to be ready with my references, credit statement, and other application info to apply on the spot. I don't think that man was trying to lead you on, or that he had a previous offer -- if your email and application had come in first, he would have gone with you. I actually admire his ethics where he isn't looking for a bidding war. In Manitoba, we don't even bid on apartments -- the rent is what is listed.

Bar keeper's friend is great for cleaning stainless steel and I would also get stainless steel appliance cleaner for that streak-free look! Also with such a light and airy space I think a dark and dramatic bathroom would be a total vibe

Glad to see you found a place to call home. Take time to nurture yourself. Starting over from scratch can be invigorating, but it's also a lot of stress so be kind to yourself and breathe deep. Take naps. Set an alarm for meals so you don't miss any. Splurge on the occasional order in. Invite a new neighbor to catch a performance at a local theater or concert. Bake cookies to share with your new neighbors and pick one a day to chat with. Buy yourself a new plant as a housewarming gift. Step by step. Don't worry about us. Take care of you and let yourself celebrate, cry, nap, explore the area in long introspective walks, have a paint the house party with a Crock-Pot stew and beer to celebrate when you're done. Whatever you do, remember you got this. You're strong, beautiful, intelligent, creative, resilient, and resourceful. You're going to be just fine, better than ever before. - sending hugs and prayers

A lovely loft! I like the "modern museum" aesthetic, and am looking forward to seeing future episodes on how you design this space. Also, more Butter and Noodle, please!

I'm happy you have a new place to be excited about. When I retired I moved over 1,000 miles northward. 1st in a Motel 6, I found an apartment for myself, 2 cats, and my youngest's childhood doggo for the few months while I searched for my forever rural property. For me it was very temporary. And as a bored former homeowner: it fixed all of the flaws noted in my rental agreement. When I moved on, I was offered a job: detailing other units. Thanks, but no thanks. Your cats must either be magical beings: or really, really, love you.

Stainless Steel Counters Tip: Never wipe stainless steel against the metal's grain. Always wipe with the grain to prevent streaking. Try not to allow your stainless steel appliances to air dry after cleaning. Buffing them with a clean microfiber cloth minimizes streaks and spots and restores the shine.

I’ve been in an extremely similar situation apartment hunting as when they used you to cover their bases. It’s so frustrating and I cried too. You’re not alone in those feelings!
  • @shzreenashis
rach's rental sound so cutee !! can't wait for the full tour one day ❤❤
  • Your new apartment is stunning and I can’t wait to see what you do with it. Those windows and high ceiling are the dream! Insuite laundry and a dishwasher are so great. This was my fav of the three places. ❤
  • @woin9361
13:36 omg I feel exactly the same way! I could listen to Becky talk about design for hours and never get bored. She’s so passionate! ❤
  • @basilmurphy9810
Aw Rachel, if it makes you feel any better when we were touring apartments in my city, we found a place and applied, and got it. Paid, signed the lease! And then the landlord called my past landlords, and rescinded the offer because of a past legal dispute with her over our security deposit that she kept unlawfully. I was devastated and so hurt about the whole situation. A couple weeks later, we found the PERFECT house!! And it was a better location, bigger house, with a garage. Everything happens for a reason. Even if it hurts. So excited for this new chapter for you
  • @traxx17
Moving to Canada in November and I can’t wait to start apartment hunting! This video has me pumped for it. The ONE is amazing! It suits your style Rachel and I can’t wait to be inspired with what you will do to the space.
  • @kristenp6547
I have a condo in an old mill building - totally understand your excitement! Congrats! For your counters, e-cloth microfiber cloths (cleans with water only) then use their flat weave cloth to get rid of the streaks.
  • @lenalight3788
I think this is the best one! Tub or not, I can’t imagine a cooler space to live! So much potential, but the bare bones are incredible. So happy for you! Can’t wait for more❤

Vinegar for cleaning stainless steel. Use it from a spray bottle. Rinse it with water and wipe it with a cotton cloth. Hi from Croatia, Europa!
