    Karate itself is a martial art. To execute it fully, means to defense against an opponent as a last resource. Shuto and Haito are attacks that can be done in a tournament with control, as i have recived points for mark them with an appropriate control. A tournament is a controlled environment where you need to take care of yourself and your opponent for avoiding terrible consequences.

    It's a positive kiai, your technique is your product to sell to the judges, more likely to score the technique with this dominance than with a small self-concious kiai, that's how I am taught anyway

    @JHourahine actually koshiki karate is recognised by most national olympic committees and is still being considered for games olympic. Non contact karate has been shot down several times.. koshiki still has a shot because its more realistic, has less accidents and the refereeing is more clear. every year koshiki is invited bye the ioc to the olympic week in Lauson where potential sports are looked at. I dont know about other non contact groups but koshiki definately has some olympic recognition

    Yannick, je pratique parallèlement au Shotokan le muay thai et je peux t'affirmer de l'efficacité du Shotokan de par sa rapidité et de sa vista! Il n'y a pas si longtemps avant le changement de protection où les gants étaient beaucoup plus fin, il était courant que les combats étaient interrompus car les combattants pissaient le sang et à l'époque de Kanazawa, c'était encore pire! Le shotokan est plus tranchant et saignant! Le shotakan est une lame et la boxe thai est une bate de baseball!
