I noticed this on my 2016 but after about a minute it all calms down. I have a lot confidence in it's reliability.
  • You literally pointed out every noise that I was hearing and explained it to me thank you . This is my 1st Mazda

People often asked me why my car made such a loud start, without knowing all these things I was able to explain that it is normal. Thank you, now I can tell them exactly why.

The engine sounds different from others because of the high compression. Idle can almost sound like a diesel.
  • At first I thought something was wrong with mine because my 1.5 Mazda3 made very similar noises, but glad to know it’s normal. Almost 200k km’s as of now and the car’s been excellent in terms of reliability 👍🏻

Wow, thanks for this! I have the same engine in a Mazda 6 and always wondered about this. Thanks again for the explanation, well done.

THANK GOD you covered the clicking sound coming from the right side. I thought the 4th cylinder was saying bye bye. Thanks a lot, great video quality too!

Wow! Thank you for this. I recently took my car for service and thought they did something wrong. I was about to return it, then I came across this explanation 👋

Awesome, thanks! Sounds exactly like that. Was so puzzled by that sound at first! 6GL 2.5 petrol wagon 2019
  • Fantastic video. So glad I stumbled across this. Coming from a German vehicle, I was concerned about my brand new CX5, and why there were so many random loud sounds and high revs at a cold start up. So glad to learn that this is normal function of this manufacturers engine. The mechanic had indicated as such, but I was skeptical. Having seen your video along with these explanations, it has alleviated those concerns.

This is an excellent video! I wish more people did this for all cars.

Whew. Thank you for this. I just bought a used 3 & my first morning start had me panicked & shut it off & restarted it with out any noise. This was extremely helpful.
  • This helped me tremendously. I’m used to driving Honda for 5years. And this is a huge difference from what I’m used to. I thought I got a lemon 😅 thank you for your video super helpful!!!
  • Now that makes sense. Of course changing the timing at start up will mean a change to the sound, which is added to the increased revs. Thanks for the explanation 👍👍
  • I was so worried after changing very very old worn out spark plugs and an oil change, it started sounding more like this. While engine performance seemed much better and healthier, I was caught off guard by the knocking noise, but it's just because of compression! Thank you for this video
  • I'm glad there's an explanation for this. I was concerned about it. Thanks.
  • @THEPOETGOD
Thank you ... I thought my engine was in need of a clean out because of the sound but I had my doubts because it performs great.

I bought a 2013 skyactiv and my dad was conviced there was lifter problems. This video has made me feel so much better.

Gracias por el video! Habia estado buscándolo hace un tiempo ya!
  • @LK_EBM
Thanks for making this video. The noise started to get louder recently (or maybe I noticed it more). Hope it's just as you explained.
