I have a theory. Tom gew up watching how to train you dragon, and then came up with his own fan fiction where he's this important dragon rider with friends who's actually related to hiccup, but in reality he's just bored because his mom brought him to a research facility in the middle of nowhere.
  • The Showrunners attempting to have June be the Astrid stand-in is so laughable, because you KNOW that if she had met June, she’d immediately dislike her.
  • As a victim of emotional abuse, June is just comically text book toxicity, even to the point where Tom feels obligated to help her through “rough times”. What a time vampire

Eugene and Alex's character are the definition of "Even a broken clock is right twice a day"
  • @liaheart2056
Everytime she inputs a scene from the original series, I remember what happiness looks like
  • @DonutToast
At this point the race changing is like a cry for help from the animators
  • @bismuthief
Ok but lets not ignore the fact that Thunder used a LIGHTNING ATTACK UNDERWATER. This SHOULD have electrocuted everything, including possibly striking the diving bell.

    I love Nine Realms science.
  • @robinmitchells
The fact that June unquestionably and without a doubt checks all the boxes of one of the most well known manipulation techniques just proves how awful the writers of this show are at writing likable characters (except Alex but she’s great by mistake)
  • @greengrendel
Ok, I think the plan is clear now, June is going to have an ending arc where she teams up with Sled Bitch and that's why she needs to be the romantic interest, so her betrayal is more dramatic.
  • @p0ppeteer
With how often Alex is the queen even without having to talk I think the animators agree with the fact Alex is a better love interest for Tom then June ever will be.

"We're forgiving him? How many free passes does this group hand out?!" Honestly, I agree with Eugene on that one. I feel like Alex is the only one that hasn't really done anything absurdly stupid. Also I think the only way to save Jun's character is to cannonly make her and her mother toxic manipulators. With Eugene either going along with it because he has to, or he has no idea about it.

Considering season 7 will feature the “Dark Realm,” which represents Helheim/Hell as one of the nine realms in mythology, basic summary of the next season:
“Tom and his gang go to hell”

I always believed that Toothless being alpha in httyd 2 was more related to 'this is what it means to earn a dragon's loyalty' and that the dragons obeyed him because of the respect he earned defeating drago's dragon. That being said, thunder has no qualities whatsoever besides he random digimon burst of alpha gas that entitles him to be alpha in regards to loyalty (or if it is legit a skill learned by the alpha dragon like u said). This is just me spitballing here tbh, Audrie def knows way more about this franchise than i do

Why does it feel like Eugene, June, and DiAngelo got 1/3 of Snotlout's worst traits each?
  • @Ruby-96
The fact they gave June this big walk away moment like she did something “yea that’s what I thought” I would’ve screamed. Her friends have evidence that Sled is up to no good and going behind her back and her first thought was “is it because she actually wants to hear what I have to say?” Like not everything is about you. And the fact that Tom was groveling to her, yet when she sees she’s wrong she doesn’t apologize
  • @samurexatlas7373
51:29 The genuine answer is no, because Astrid she is not.
Despite being strong, Astrid was pretty smart and resourceful too. Jun has less braincells than phytoplankton

It will forever disappoint me that throughout the original franchise, it has been shown how many times Toothless and Hiccup would give up their own lives to save one another and continuously strengthen their bond together not because they are the main characters but because they worked so hard for it, literally breaking the norm and changing the perspective of many Vikings, while Thunder and Tom are intended to have that kind of bond but they never show anything for it, there is no hard work, there is no event or even reason for them to be together they simply just met and decided we are friends now, the main reason people love the duo of Toothless and Hiccup so much is because of the trials these characters went through to help one another, yet what has Tom done for Thunder, what has Thunder done for Tom? Hell even the side characters in the main series are shown to have tighter bonds and a serious set of trials between them and their dragons than the characters in this show and they aren't even the main focus.

Just imagine if the main characters of the show were Alex and Eugene and the main relationship between them was a kind of brother/sister found family thing. Like.. i feel like the characters really compliment each other: whilst Eugene is loud and obnoxious on the surface he's more sensitive and cowardly underneath and in comparison alex is quite quiet and shy, but underneath that she's sassy and really competent. Like... just imagine the scenes we could have of them bringing the best out of each other
