How come the media did not suffer from the online meltdown ?
  • @ryanroberts1104
And this is why you don't let the friggin' computer download "updates" automatically...
  • @JLe-vl8mq
Let's just be glad Stack Overflow didn't seem to be affected. We may have been waiting months for a fix otherwise.

There are a few problems with the software update: 1. Obviously, testings weren’t adequately done in a test environment before the update went live. 2. The disaster recovery plan wasn’t designed or executed correctly, where a system rollback wasn’t done to restore the system to the previous state before the update. This is the nightmare that jolts the IT and Software Quality Assurance team awake at night. But nothing can ever be error free, especially when it comes to Information Technology. It will happen again.
  • Southwest uses old version of Windows. Unaffected. Brilliant. Latest and Greatest not allways best.

@4:52 One line of code has always been able to take out windows, or any OS..... that has been the case since FOREVER and will always be the case. The solution to the problem is less then 30secs of work. The issue the is number of affect systems.
  • @travisgoesthere
it wasnt a global computer shortage. It ony affected microsoft
  • @jaysnowden2
One line of code? Maybe we’re a little too dependent and vulnerable.

A cyber attack prevention company CAUSDED the world's biggest cyber attack ? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉
  • @JimAllder11
Still stunned that an external cybersecurity company had the ability to load proprietary drivers on so many corporate machines, all at once, and remotely -- and at the kernel level! That may sound normal to some in IT Infrastructure, but those of us who've worked User Services can tell you that's a stupid move; as there is always a strong possibility something will go very wrong. It would have been smarter to first roll this out to far fewer machines, in a testing phase. Global outage or not, I am jaw-dropped that CrowdStrike did this in a blanket rollout. This multibillion dollar, Austin-based cybersecurity company needs to be held accountable. And a handful of nobodies loosing their jobs is the least of what should happen here.

  • @nickwinn
Microsoft Windows is a national security threat and this just surfaces the number of systems that need to be gapped and protected against accidental updates.

Can they authenticate whether the jacket really belonged to Elvis by running a DNA test? Assuming that it wasn’t washed.
  • @davidwillis9037
What was everyone doing before computers? That's why it's always good to have a alternative way to do things because computers obviously cannot be depended upon 100 percent.
  • @yoyoglock4
Fun fact. The Elvis Jet was boughy by a youtuber that goes by Jimmys World and was put on a motorhome chassis. He is driving it to Oskosh for the air show. He has tons of videos on it 😎
  • Kernel problem? Grab a bucket from the other kernel - Colonel Sanders.
