Karnal Singh is an IPS officer from the batch of 1984, who headed the Enforcement Directorate from 2015 to 2018. In his impressive 34-year career, Singh led the Special Cell of the Delhi Police and as ED Chief, Singh also took charge as the Director of India's Financial Investigation Unit (FIU), playing a key role in shaping the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act.

During his tenure, Singh led investigations related to white-collar crimes and was the driving force behind the Batla House encounter, a case that made national headlines.

In our latest ANI podcast with Smita Prakash, Singh takes you behind the scenes of the Batla House encounter, unveiling its role in dismantling the Indian Mujahideen and its far-reaching political consequences.

He also delves into the cases of fugitives like Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya. He addresses opposition allegations that ED is being ‘misused’ by centre to suppress dissent.

Singh offers insights into the Indian justice system and the reasons behind delayed justice delivery. He also shares stories about the intricate relationship between politicians and criminals in our country.

My father was the Police Inspector and later the ACP who was involved in the Indian Mujahideen cases in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He was the one who went to Supreme Court to file the case on government's behalf to declare Indian Mujahideen a terrorist organization before it became a very big name. Proud of him!
  • It is a shame on our system and anti national politicians that even after 15 years of Batla house encounter a senior most retired person is coming out and explaining that the encounter wasn't fake.
  • @victor256in
Isn't Batla the encounter where Sonia Maino AKA Mata-e-Pappu called the killed islamic terrorists her 'children', and her UPA regime went after the hero Delhi cops?

  • I being a law officer in prosecution am experiencing what Mr Karnal Singh talked over. Hopefully, upcoming Criminal laws will bring the desired change in the country. I have started liking this podcast due to its mature content covering the ground issues.
  • Smita, Thank you / your team for wonderful job you are doing for country. Such a dedicated, ethical person worked in our civil service was sound like fairy tale growing up. I like the idea of including some laws or legal awareness in education. Mr Karnal Singh is technically strong and very polite explaining. Mrs Smita Prakash as usual the best in asking questions fearlessly 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
  • A very proud feeling for all Bharatiya for having IPS officer Karnal Singh Ji as a Suputra of Bharat Mata....🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
  • He hit the nail on the head - Fear - without fear, the criminals go scot free & public gets intimidated by the hype created leading the criminal to get egoist & Arrogant. Nip this in the bud by the Justice system
  • @I...2728
Smita Prakash has unbelievable guest selection skills. Except when she brings Bollywood crap for views. But other than that, the 90% guests are amazing. Love to hear this podcast whenever it releases
  • What an eye opening conversation this is 🙏🏻🙏🏻 the kind of struggle and challenges they face and still they keep working 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 and what a shame on our judiciary system 😭
  • Excellent presentation of facts this is a slap on the face of all such Senseless fellows and leaders who are soft on jihadis and terrorists and their activities. Bharat Mata ki Jai.

  • @sharan50000
Smita ji great interview. I do think Karnal Sahab should have spoken in Hindi. His effect would have been much better. His English is not important. His communication is. We need to come out of this English hangover 🙏🏽🇮🇳
  • Beyond many qualities, this man reeks ‘integrity’. If Kapil Sibal got convinced, it shows how good he was at his job.
  • Excellent. I was totally thrilled listening this great police officer. He is truly an inspiring person to motivate young minds. Thank you Smita.
  • @nikhilthakran
Very thoughtful and informative podcast. Police and judiciary reforms are very much needed.

First class interview… the words ‘the ignorance of law is no excuse - that is the legal maxim’ captures the entire raw hooliganism succinctly and in a nutshell. Perpetrators may not know the exact law but when they commit a crime their gut feel cautions them. In their urgency and urge they choose to ignore the inner voices.
  • @sasankt7068
I work in some office and get aggressive if people are not working the right way..! And this gentleman is so calm, polite and confident seeing real time life and death issues along with political pressure etc..! WoW..! How is it possible to control the boiling blood 🩸..?
  • Why Sonia did hue and cry on this incident of Bhatla All those IMs are living like a Student's there
