Does your Nintendo 3DS have this RARE feature?!

A couple of notes to address frequent comments: 1. When I mentioned that this was the final iteration of the 3DS, I meant amongst the 3D models, but I accidentally cut those words out 😄🤦 2. The only way we personally can tell if a screen is IPS other than the "angle test" is just to compare it side by side to a TN screen and see the contrast/brightness/vibrance differences. But there are other resources out there to check your model. 3. I only cover the New 3DS XL model in this video, but some other models have been known to have IPS screens, especially after modifications 😀

My red N3DSXL didn't have an IPS screen, it had 2 TN screens originally. BUT I noticed that other 3DS' had better quality screens & figured out why, so I contacted Nintendo Support while it was still under warranty, told them my screen quality was subpar & that some games colors looked washed out, which was true. It could be the screen was defective. Either way, they gave me a shipping label to send it in & they said, "There's a chance you'll just get another TN screen." but I left a note in the box & on the service site that said, "Please replace with IPS screen if possible." &, when it came back, it had a shiny new IPS screen on it & I was really happy. The main downside is my serial # no longer matches the box, but that's only a big deal for collector's editions. In any case, the screen was a huge improvement & I had trouble seeing some games like Hyrule Warriors Legends on the TN screen before cause the colors were so washed out & greyish. Maybe the old screen really was defective. I was just happy to have the IPS screen now, tho.

mine is a top IPS and bottom TPS. never been more happy in my life it is really beaten up, looking forward to a reshell in the future

Btw, the N3DSXL hyrule edition has a higher chance of having both upper and lower ips screens. I don’t know why, but that’s what people say.

The prices for the IPS screens nowadays are super crazy. I did manage to get a used dual IPS one for around $160 with 6 random game cards included.

I've never seen a SNES edition have dual IPS. I didn't even think that was possible.

My 3DS does not have an IPS screen, but my Gameboy Advance does.

Note that the IPS screens can be very dark in some games (Zelda OoT) and battery life is noticeably worse than the TN panels. They do look nice though.

My SNES 3DS is one of my favorite handhelds of all time and having the Nintendo ambassador games on it means I’ve got a fantastic virtual console in my pocket that looks amazing. I felt so lucky to grab the last one from the shop I got it in.

I remember explaining this to a friend of mine a few years back and we put our 3DS side by side and he got so mad. It was actually kinda funny but he felt ripped off, playing on it was never the same for him lol.

Back in the day, I got a New 3ds XL with 2 IPS screens and only noticed it a couple of days later, when I saw a video like this 😃

I have one IPS on top, I think it's the best since I'm mostly playing with the top screen
