Park fire: Ex-con accused of starting fire charged with arson | LiveNOW from FOX

Publicado 2024-07-29
Ronnie Stout, the California man accused of starting the Park Fire has been charged with felony arson, according to court records.

The Park fire has burned over 370,000 acres, making it the sixth-largest wildfire of all time in California and largest fire currently burning in the U.S. CAL Fire said the wildfire has so far destroyed more than 100 structures, including homes and businesses, with at least five others receiving damage.

Prosecutors say Stout was seen pushing a burning car down a gully in Butte County, spreading flames that caused the Park Fire.

Stout has two previous "strike" felony convictions, which makes him eligible for California's "Three Strike" law, according to the Butte County District Attorney's office.

CAL Fire said more than 4,800 firefighters have descended upon Northern California to help contain and extinguish the Park Fire.

Those resources include helicopters and aircraft that have been dumping water and fire retardant on the flames, as well as the hundreds of firefighters on the ground building fire lines and spraying the flames with water in the hopes of stopping the Park Fire in its tracks.

  • @edwinmalachy
How do we know there's not a dead body in that car?
  • The D.A claimed this guy said he didn't push the car down the revine. LIAR. Then, how in the hell did the car end up there?? This guy is going nowhere but to prison. He was drunk. He ran from the scene and was the sole cause of this. Witnessed by someone, as the D.A. had stated. This criminal is done.

Well he had at least one supporter in the court today, shouting that "we are with you Ronnie". Go figure. He said it was an accident? Seriously? You actively PUSH a burning car off a cliff into dry brush and casually walk away, never calling anyone. OK , sell that to a jury. .

He is a sex offender. They need to check that car and see if there's a burned body in it.
  • I have seen the video of the origin of the fire and you can see the electrical towers and the lines crossing the ravine where it started. Taking into account the history of electrical companies in starting fires, could this have to do with their origin?
