I'm not a fan of microtransactions in almost any form, but it makes me especially mad to see microtransactions in $70 games. DLC that adds meaningful content for the consumer is fine, but cosmetics and boosts for story-focused games are absolute trash.

Having a signed Weird Al poster is one of the biggest flexes I've ever seen!! :O

I love it when I pay 70 dollars for the option to pay 700 dollars 🎉

If we don't stand up and refuse buying what we don't agree with, this industry is going to end up in a place we don't want.

I completely stopped playing any and all games that have any kind of microtransactions in them because microtransactions has ruined the entire gaming industry.

Since SBI,DEI, and BRIDGE is mostly involved with recent games, it has never been so easy to finally stop buying said games. A clear example being DC's SSKTJL. The game isn't just a steaming pile of do do, it's storyboard is written literally by people with a degree in gender studies. And going even further back, DC's Gotham Knights, which they also were involved in. The only games I currently own right now are from old systems, PC and Nintendo Switch. Used to be mainly an XBOX and Playstation guy but since they went down the drain, I dropped them. Not only I'm saving money big time by not buying their slop, also on the pointless online memberships. And now I can actually focus on growing my catalog for the aforementioned systems.

I disagree. There should be 0 MTX in a full priced game. Especially if you're buying a bullshit deluxe edition or gold edition or butt monkey edition. The problem with "just cosmetics" is it exposes the haves and have nots in a game. There is a good video on Jimquisition, about how cosmetics can be predatory through peer pressure, there's also the whole FOMO aspect. Though if any, ANY, of the money actually went to devs, I could remotely support a little bit, but it just all goes into greedy shareholders and execs pockets. They don't want a successful game that gets them some money, they want a game that gets them ALL the money. Fuck triple cAAApitalism.

I agree, Jerma with glasses speaks truth, in Jerma Potter we trust.

games should never be 70 bucks if they dont improve on what was built off of lower-priced games. Elden Ring is really the only game I think deserved to be 70 bucks, and it actually was not, so my point still stands that high-budget gaming companies should either think of the players first or quit trying to make a product that ultimately will be met with less than stellar reviews. Truthfully if Indie devs had the resources to make AAA-like games, they could probably make the best games in the industry. But eh who cares here is the next Call of Duty at 70 bucks thats an unoptimized boring yearly released trash game with a deluxe version that is 120 dollars cuz why not?
  • Good video, keep it up! I love that Youtube has finally started recommending videos with smaller viewcounts again. Also btw you could pull off a fantastic Clark Kent/superman cosplay with your hair/glasses/facial structure

I would let you know what I think but it will coast you $1

there are so many games that I think look good, but then I won't give them the time of day because of their monetization strategy
  • Stephanie Sterling been saying this for years of it spreading throughout the gaming industry over the years. It's too late now. Most of the younger gamers are eating it up like hotdogs in the streets of NYC.
  • I just don't bother with $60+ games anymore. there's more than enough indie, retro and discounted games to last a lifetime and they tend to offer a better experience anyway if you know what you're looking for.

We should just boycott all the games that push that nonsense of microtransactions. Hopefully that movement will gain traction with time as more and more people become sick of it. Better yet is to boycott most of the big corps creating games and support more of the smaller devs. Bigger corps can't come up with any decent stories anyway. Another aspect to take into consideration of microtransactions and why everyone is jumping on the band wagon is money laundering. You can launder large sums of money through microtransactions a lot easier than selling copies (Some of those whales are not real users) A lot of "interesting" things happen in microtransactions and mobile games. One mobile company you never heard of was called Playtika. It was sold for 4$ Billions. Was it worth it or what was really going on there. Anyway, great video as always!
  • Remember good DLC. That for $20 you could get quite a few more hours extra content. Ah good times. Now we have drip feed DLC. Horse Armor level of DLC.
