It was hard for me to figure out how to censor this video, as I wanted to protect identities but still talk about this issue. The people whose identities aren’t blurred are those posted without malicious intent and who have already been exposed to 100,000+ viewers. If I felt that showing them would expose them to even more people than they already were/if the poster seemed to have sinister intent, their faces were blurred.

“Don’t put on a show if you can’t handle the audience” is such a raw fucking line

"this MF reading a WHOLE ASS BOOK ON THE BUSS😭" what was he supposed to do? Cut it in half?

I had a classmate in 5th grade who took a selfie of her and all the people behind her (including me) during a fire drill. She asked if she could post my face on her social media and when I said no, she didn’t post it. An 11 year-old classmate asked for permission to post me, just goes to show how delusional some of these GROWN influencers are.

In extreme contrast, I LOVEEEEE the tumblr version of this where when some sees someone/something interesting, they do a doodle of it. (Also tumblr posts of this variety tend to be "I saw this kid letting his dog pull him on roller blades" "I saw this grandma who looked entirely traditionally grandma except she was wearing platform skullcrushers" and less "I saw this stranger who isn't conventionally attractive, mmmmmmmm gotta film them and mock them"

Influencers go out in public to film but are surprised when the public is there

The worst part is that there are people who's lives can be put at risk because you decided to post a picture on social media shaming them and it went viral. You never know who's ex might track them down and get violent. You never know who left a cult. You never know who's parents will harass them and even get violent with them. You don't know the danger you put random strangers in.

recording in a locker room is a crime almost everywhere
  • @MaximeChose
The constant fear of being filmed and posted without my knowledge is actually horrible. This shouldn’t be a thing..

And people say cosplayers are cringe when cosplay creators and cosplayers in general are a lot nicer and considerate compared to these 'influencers'

On the topic of Gym influencers, I actually recently saw one where the lady recording actually requests permission to film if anyone walks into the shot unknowingly, she just goes "Hey I'm actually recording right now, are you comfortable with your face being in that?" She didn't ask them to move, in fact one guy went "Oh, yeah that's cool, do you want me to leave?" and her response was "Not at all, if you aren't comfortable with it I'll just shut off my camera and delete the footage, but you're more than welcome to stay and work out with me if you're ok with being filmed" and I cannot stress how wonderful that was to see. I genuinely wish more influencers were like her rather than the type shown in this video that go "People were in this public space when I was trying to record, how dare they ruin my footage just by being in a public space >:c"

Fun fact: you can get in serious legal trouble in Japan for uploading a picture or video of a person in public without their consent
  • @jayjohnson1604
Best line in this whole video, “This isn’t a movie set and your not the director”

"Influencers and the term itself are a mistake." Hayao Miyazaki, somewhere in his foretress of solitude.

"She was just happy for her pancakes, leave her alone. You’re all so miserable nowadays" no. She wasnt "happy for her pancakes" she was pretanding to be happy for her pancakes so she would go viral on tiktok. There's a difference.

The other day in my school hallway 4 girls were filming tiktoks and I had to get by to go back to class and they said "What's with all the people in the hallway?" As if classes hadn't been switching less than 3 minutes prior. 😐💀
