Episode Notes:

1. Price can range incredibly depending on where you get your games and their condition. The prices in the video are of course, generalized.

2. There are many games that are close in price to these, but I needed to keep the counts to 10 per region to keep the runtime manageable.

3. I know the Japanese and North American markets much better than I know the PAL territories. Most of my PAL knowledge came much later and without the experience of being there to see it firsthand.

4. There are also some really expensive peripherals for the platform.

5. There was a rare Japanese Aiwa boombox radio that had a built in Sega Mega Drive and Mega CD that can cost $1000's today. The Tera Drive, a computer/Mega Drive hybrid, is also $1000's.

6. If you find Ebay to be a pain, look at places like Facebook and join collectors groups. There you can make deals and trade for the games you need. Sometimes with much better results.

7. Don't assume your game is legit just because it has a Sega PCB. Cheap Chinese knockoffs are obvious. The assholes truly trying to trick you, not so much.

The Japanese version of Batman Forever is also crazy-priced... or at least it used to be. Not sure who would pay anything for any version of that game.
  • @SomeOrangeCat
No joke, back in 98, I bought Virtua Racing for the Genesis, CiB from a video store for $20.00!
  • @DeludedOne
I'm kinda regretting letting go of my Sega collection now after seeing these prices.
  • @RetroPiero
Crusdaer of Centy was ALWAYS expensive, as far back as 2009, I remember seeing it for $150-$200
  • I truly think MUSHA is one of the only "expensive" games that's worth the actual price. Its definitely one of the best genesis title IMO

I started collecting around 2007-2008 and it blows my mind seeing the price of things now. I saw a Virtual Boy go for $700 a couple weeks ago... I got two boxed VB back in 2007 for $30 lol
  • @kramalerav
I still have my copy of Splatterhouse 2 in excellent condition + instruction manual! Thx SLX!!
  • @sonicmario64
I happen to have a copy of "Zero The Kamikaze Squirrel" in my Sega Genesis library, though it's not quite complete due to it missing the instruction manual, but I'm surprised to learn how expensive a copy of the game is worth now after watching this video.
  • @GregsGameRoom
Absolutely ridiculous that these games are so expensive. Everdrives are going to get more popular as these prices go up.
  • @heilong79
I owned lots of these at spome point in my life, I even bought Castelvania twice when it was cheap.
  • @stog33
I have to say, I love this channel, always look forward to seeing a new one pop up in my feed
  • @lhfirex
I used to live in Japan, and I can confirm that Vampire Killer and Contra Hard Corps are both super expensive to get complete.
  • @Ashura96
I started collecting Japanese Mega Drive games in 2017, and boy I snapped up some gems at decent (sub $100) prices and looking how much they go for now is ridiculous.
  • Fun Fact: I got Punisher for just a dollar and trading Jet Moto in also at a Swap. The guy wasn't aware about the rarity of the game at all
  • @AceTrainerX3
Really makes me appreciate the Mega EverDrive X5 I bought a while back. I'm a broke 20 something with not much money to my name, so getting to experience this console and its amazing library without resorting to emulation is a pretty vindicating feeling.
  • Here in portugal they were all expensive. But worth it. Love the mega drive 2. Nothing bring more nostalgia.
  • @j4ck.
This is an excellent series! Can't wait to see more!
  • @larrym5120
I spent 40 something dollars for Pirates Gold back in the day. Came with the box, manual and fold out map. Still have it a it's still one on my favorite games to play.
  • @jong2359
We are definitely at the divergent point where collectors are off being crazy, and gamers/fans are off filling hard drives with ROMS. No wonder everdrives are so expensive... from a gamers standpoint it is a one-time pain.
  • @Seirzaku
I cant wait to see a Sega CD and Sega Saturn Episode like this.
