I'm literally married to a women that listens to country... I mean 90s country. She also likes Adele, Lady Gaga,.... A whole bunch of that kinda shit... What's crazy is that people's taste in music changes. My wife hated metal in the beginning, and now, after starting with All That Remains, Killswitch, and Trivium, she only listens to metal because it calms her 😊

Found a woman a few months back on the Hinge. She rules. But was more a rap/pop fan. As am I. I love Swift and some mainstream pop stuff. Same with rap. I was raised on El-P, Aesop Rock, Immortal Technique, Sadistik, and Wu. But she never once got into metal. She had nothing against it. Just not her thing. Obviously, we discussed music early on. Asked what im into. And she knew metal and hardcore. She was looking for recommendations im into. I played it cool. Told her Spiritbox, Deftones, GlassJAW, and Erra. Kept it more casual. A day later told me she's obsessed with Deftones, Erra, and Spiritbox. She asks what else I love. I had two options. Throw her in the deep end. Or throw a few more bands in the same vien. I felt ballsy that day. I tell her Tony Danza, Fronterier, Ion Dissonance, Vildjarta, Knocked Loose, Reflections, and Ten56. Its now been 5 months together and all she listens to is metal. And in particular Knocked Loose, Fronterier, and Deftones. But legitimately loves the more mathy/djenty/hardcore/pissedcore stuff. She may be the one.

I literally wore a Slipknot shirt and my vest covered in patches with my anthrax snapback on the first date with my wife. On our way to the restaurant i played simple and clean by utada. The opening of kingdom hearts 1. And it's hands down the greatest video game opening song ever made no question so I know every word and I was just singing along. Apparently that's why she wanted it as our first dance song.

Heavy metal is my favorite type of music but if you play an 80s pop song I will sing my heart out. Synthwave, EDM, lots of hard rock and 90s alternative rock are some of my other favorites. Idk, I like variety.

I used to be more into EDM and pop songs before Metal, for the better part of my childhood! Taylor Swift, Adele, Ellie Goulding, One Direction, Sam Smith, all the household names. I never got into Metal at the time because I found it too heavy and the head banging nature of the genre never pulled me in. Until about three years ago, 2021. My graphic design teacher decided to introduce me to metal. By way of BMTH’s Royal Albert Hall show. I listened to the album and Jesus Christ, I fell in love. I was captivated by Ollie’s vocals, his screams, and the orchestra accompanying the whole band. Then I listened to more Bring Me, and I fell in love. Then I discovered Architects. Then Bad Omens. Then Spiritbox. Then Beartooth, and then Nik himself. Now I’m listening to staples like ERRA and Wage War, and lesser knowns like Dayseeker and ENMY. I still love pop, but metal is where I’m at right now. Point is, if your significant other decides to leave you because of differing music tastes, she doesn’t deserve anyone else. Does she realize that not everyone will have her same music tastes and in fact may like music she dislikes? Go back to school, woman.

I am a metalhead, but have NO FRIENDS THAT LISTEN TO METAL! Most of my friends listen to rock, and I do too, so no conflict here. On my birthdays I play my music at the beginning and when people start leaving or their face turns green, I just ask my boyfriend to change the music to whatever he likes, so he plays Stones, or Zeppelin, or Purple, or whatever, and everybody's happy now!
