As goes effort, this is an interesting video, the tang and guard could have used a lot more care in my opinion. My biggest concern is that nails are not a good quality steel and are not hardenable in general. When he was grinding the steel after welding it you can see that it only produces orange sparks without the blooming effect at the tip of the sparks, this is indicative of mild steel or low carbon steel. Doubtful that this blade will hold an edge for very long if at all.

Hmm... while the vinegar would dissolve the zinc plating, I'm surprised he didn't use something a little stronger. I know people will comment about how wire nails are a mild steel, which is true enough, but there is a chance some of the carbon from the charcoal will infuse/case harden layers of the blade, which could increase its hardness with the forging process. The only way to know for sure would be to do a before and after test of the nails, then the blade to see if there's any difference in the mild steel compared to the tempered blade... ONE possible option for case hardening the blade, would be to set the forged blade in a box tube, then fill it with crushed charcoal, then apply sufficient heat, this should infuse additional carbon into the blade which, in turn could case harden it during the final tempering. I only have one real bone of contention with this tool... ... well, those who know me are well aware of my distain for rat tails tangs... 🤷‍♂ Either way, it looks cool and I LOVE the bamboo handle!!!
