The mother of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, Angelica Poquiz Yulo, has addressed her rift with her son which she said stemmed from financial disagreements.

In an interview with reporters on Sunday (August 4), Angelica detailed the cash incentives Carlos had received from his gymnastics stints, denying she "stole" any of the amount contrary to the "perception" of her son.

"Good for him," was Angelica's short statement when asked for her reaction to the historic Olympic wins of Carlos, going on to say that his sacrifices have paid off.

Angelica also said any chance of reconciliation will not be initiated by her, pointing out that public opinion may brand her as a mother only after her son's money in light of Carlos' staggering cash prizes for clinching double gold.

LESS TALK LESS MISTAKE. Talking in public is like ruining the name of your son. 😕This is disappointing how this mother reacting in public— this issue is becoming a circus.

The Philippines waited 96 years before we won 1 Gold medal (Hidilyn Diaz) and then Carlos Yulo won 2 Gold medals in just 2-days. It's so sad the trending news is about the family issues and not the incredible accomplishments of Caloy. Ganyan ba talaga tayo mga Filipino??? 😢
  • @FrailHeart-hj4kr
The mere fact that she allowed this interview and revealed family issues to public speaks volume of her personality. May mga parents talaga who think na investment nila mga anak nila and it's a GIVEN that they will reap the benefits.

Mother, wag ka na magpa-interview sa media. Yun achievements ng anak mo dapat yun nasa spotlight hindi yun family problems nyo.
  • @ArmieRobles
IF I WERE YOU MOTHER … STOP KA NA AFTER THIS INTERVIEW…. ITS BETTER NOT TO SAY MORE…. ❤❤❤
  • @jinwoosung7456
The more I listen to her story the more I think this is a simple misunderstanding. People may say that the son should respect his parents but the parents should humble themselves not to ruin their children's reputation as well. Appeal to your children to speak with you in person, privately. Give them advice as parents but let them decide on their own. Let them commit mistakes and learn from those mistakes.

A good and loving mother should not talked or di na dapat pa interview pa. Less talked, less mistakes. Wala ng dapat ganyan whatever the issues between you & Caloy dapat sa inyo nalang yan, family matters yan po. Pag usapan and at the end of the day family pa din kayo. Focus on what your son achieved and celebrate his victory! We Filipinos are so proud of him. He make history! Caloy deserves mo ang pagkapanalo mo, all the trainings, hard work, pagpupuyat at pagoda all are paid off. I salute you Caloy! 👏🏼🎖🙏🏼🇸🇽

It’s not good to talk about money matters over the media. As a mother, you should know that. It’s better to be quiet and sort it out with your son privately. Family matters should only remain between the family.
  • She doesn't care about her son. That's just a detail. She cares about herself
  • @user-ee2kz5lk7o
Ang magulang hindi dapat kumukuha ng pera ng anak na walang paalam. Being a parent doesn’t give you the right to do that.
  • @CeeOlleab388
Carlos Yulo deserves every CENT that he won, he worked for it and even if the parents do not acknowledge him - he is the OWNER of the money he won. This mother should just wish him well.
  • @gunbladeym
bottom line, no matter the reason or justification.... the fact that money was taken without the consent is one big RED FLAG
  • @user-qv4xh9rr8u
As a mother, if i were you, just shut your mouth for the sake of your family respect. Protect your family dignity and integrity.

Mother deserves a Grammy Award 👏
  • @Nhicole-d4d
This incident should set as a wake up call for everyone. Less talk less mistake. Be mindful and professional. Be accountable.
  • YOU SHOULD BE PROTECTING YOUR SON AT ALL COST.. A MOTHER'S LOVE FOR HIS CHILDREN SHOULD BE UNCONDITIONAL, NOT LIKE THIS...
  • @annexerod1001
A good mother doesnt talk that way..and not on social media..A mother doesnt need to explain money matters in public..its a private and family thing..its so awkward and shameful to give details about money and all its computations...the best thing to do is to be quiet and talk to your son.
  • @manuellaopao8418
mother, your son is an amazing person ….pls. forgive and support him….
  • It is better to discuss FINANCIAL MATTERS in private for your family protection not on social media platform.
