Couple of things:
I like the Jayhawks and know that Petty partially nicked Waiting for the Sun, but they go to the F and the songs have very little in common other than the first two chords. Plus Benmont plays on both.
I was aware that Meisner recorded bass on Hotel California but saying B Schmit is funnier and let's face it, it's been his since '77 and he's got a GE Smith/Cryptkeeper vibe.
I removed Diamond and Cherry Cherry from the Battle of EADA because it turned into a long segment on why/how people love screaming "so good" in Sweet Caroline. But yes, Cherry Cherry kinda started it all.

I don't know why I started watching this. There's no way I really wanted to watch a thirty-nine minute video about Dani California. I wasn't even sure if 'stink' was being used in the negative at first. I thought maybe it was being used as praise, like "Man, that's a stinky groove. Play it again!" But every minute that past just reeled me in further and I couldn't stop. This shit is gold!

the thing is, I will always love Dani California despite how bad it is because Stadium Arcadium was to me what Pinkerton was to you. That came out when I was 14 and first really learning guitar and I still go back and listen to that album fondly. This song stinks and I love it

I’ve always thought that Dani California is way too chili pepperish for its own good. It’s like a caricature of an RHCP song: California, nonsense lyrics, “ayo”, etc. Everything people make fun of them for, turned up to 11.

I've watched this several times since it came out. Just now noticed that in the opening shots when Pat's taking the straw poll around town, Zeppelin's "Going to California" is playing on his car radio. 🤯🤯🤯 We miss you Pat!
