  • The fact that a former Democrat mayor and a current Republican congressman could sit in an interview and basically say the same thing about the same topic without resorting to name calling and arguing shows that peaceful discussions can be had between politicians with opposing views.

I like my presidents well spoken, kind to others and knowledgeable of all the diversity we have in this great country.
  • I'm from Syracuse, NY & this man is absolutely right when speaking on the poverty there...

Uncle Tim is the exception. His story is a 1 in a million. He was lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

Remember the more normal times when Obama's biggest controversies were when he ordered dijon mustard and wore a tan suit?

Civility in conversation. That is all about. Respect your interlocutor while expressing yourself. You may be right but it's not a reason to insult someone else's character. And this is what was on display in this report.
  • Every time Obama says a single phrase, it reminds me that a politician/American CAN speak with intelligence and eloquence.
  • Tim Scott is something else… his worldview is actually dangerous
  • After all that being said, I'm very proud of America for making Obama president, twice. We should be proud of ourselves man.

I like how Fox News, Brian Kilmeade in particular, is now saying that Barack Obama’s words were unconscionable, when what Obama said had more facts than emotion attached.

Obama is such a highly intelligent individual. That's in part because he reads a lot. Reading is powerful.

Simply say what you mean and not one person can say otherwise. Stop making excuses for when we’re wrong about something. The world in general is thinking about racism more than not because it’s the reality of the world. We have to work together in order for our country to be better period.

Tim Scott needs to live in the real world with the rest of us.

A few years ago, the marketing director of a company I worked at was asked to visit one of our customers in a small town in Georgia. He made a comment about how he hated going there, because it always made him fear for his life. Someone asked him if the traffic was that bad, and he replied that it wasn't the traffic that scared him, it was being a black man driving a nice rental car through the backwoods of Georgia that scared him. So yeah, there's still a fair bit of work that needs to be done here in America. :(

In 246 years, you are the only one, That makes you an exception.
  • Everytime I hear Obama speak, I'm damn near in tears over the fact how far backwards we've gone when it comes to our political leadership and intelligence. His perfect bipartisan perspective on this subject is such a breath of fresh air and reminds me how much I miss him so dearly as our president.
