My grandfather was survivor of the Bataan Death March. Really really cool to see that they named a ship after Bataan.

It’s very heart warming to learn that a US Navy ship is named after a historically significant fortress in my country — the Philippines — during the WWII where both Americans and Filipinos fought and endured side by side.
  • Wow, that is our province. Thank you for honoring Bataan and all those men, and women who lost their lives during the Battle of Bataan.
  • I was stationed on this ship back in 2007-2010, went on deployment with this ship and went to New York for fleet week, such a great tradition and amazing crew!!

I wish they come to the Philippines especially the island of Bataan. So they can dock and do a tour on Corregidor Island.

I appreciate that one of our provinces here in the Philippines has been promoted through this war ship. However, the pronunciation of Bataan is "BAH-TAH-AN hope you got it.

The ship is named for the Battle of Bataan in the Philippines, during World War II. 🇵🇭
  • Hope she gets to do a tour like this on the 77 Avenger that would be an amazing experience for her.

So heartwarming that the great US pays homage to this Ship with its history deeply rooted in Filipino Culture.
  • @pedrotinaco1
Thanks for showing us the great men and women currently serving in the US Navy. Many people who see the ships in Fleet Week wonder how they operate at sea.

"BIG 5" ABUCAY Cafe. ABUCAY is one of the municipalities in Bataan. It's the first line of defense of the American and Filipino forces against the Japanese.
