Donna Summer was 57 when she did this Proms concert. She was 61 when she did the Nobel Prize concert. Her voice sounds so full, rich and powerful as she aged. Gives further depth to her classic songs.

Some women claim to be divas. Others are given the label. Few deserve the title. Donna Summer is one of those very, very few.
  • Tremendous. From her gorgeous voice to that tremendous orchestra. Donna was a treasure. She's missed.
  • I saw her last concert at a Casino in AC on my Birthday which is the 26th of December...... And I was lucky enough get a seat 6 ft from the stage. I can still replay that night in my mind. TY Donna.

First time I heard this song was when my parents bought her album 'On The Radio' back in 1979. Been a fan ever since. Her voice and the quality of the production on her songs has never been equalled.

All of these comments are priceless.. I turned 18 in 1978...at the height of her fame.. I can only say that her music framed my youth.... and her genius with a song, goes unchallenged. It never occured to me that others might have been born decades after this was recorded. but.... yes, young folks, Ms Summer was the GODDESS of disco. Despite her dalliances into religious extremism, I still love her, and I still miss her. NO ONE could belt out a tune as she did!
  • It's nice to see a professional. Extraordinarily gifted. Live: puts almost everybody to shame.

911 took the lives of many, many innocent people. It also took this incredibly talented lady. She was in her New York apartment when those planes hit the towers. She died of lung cancer due to the asbestos dust. Gone much too soon at 63. Donna Summer will always be my favorite singer of all time. I sure do miss her. :-(
  • Ohhh, my you are missed! Grow up with you and your music! <3 FANTASTIC!

One of the few singers that can sing with a full, live orchestra and still be the star. And her voice at the end of the show is still perfection.
  • @jorumbero
There won't be another queen like Donna.
  • @taschatje

When you think of the great vocalists of the 1970s in to the early 80s there are two that are among the standouts and, oddly enough, at almost opposite ends of the music spectrum. They are the great Donna Summer and the superb Karen Carpenter, two entirely different singers but each of them was brilliant and their music will live on as long as music is still listened to.
