There are also reports from the Washington Post citing multiple associates that former President Barack Obama has told allies that Mr Biden's path to victory is greatly diminished, and that he needed to seriously consider his candidacy.
Mr Biden has repeatedly said he intends to stay in the race, despite the calls for him to step aside.
