Deciding to go back to a relaxer is a hug decision!! Today we're going to go over my pros and cons of what I have experienced when I decided to go back to a relaxer after being natural for 10 years.
I will be attempting to transition for the next year or two and track how much growth i'll obtain on this transitioning journey. I'll be happy to take you all along the way of how I navigate going back natural with tools, products, and techniques I use.

I've been natural for 13 years now, it is a process of accepting your hair for what it is, not what you want it to be. I relapsed only once during the first 2 years, learned texturizers & relaxers alike are not worth it. Now I absolutely love my natural hair to the point that I dislike straight hair & never wear it. It has grown very long too which I could never achieve with the relaxers due to breakage. I wish I hadn't wasted so many years hating my real hair during my early youth, I feel robbed actually. If I could go back, I would have never relaxed in the first place. I swear many bw are brainwashed & spend too much time coveting, that's what keeps the cycle going, but God can do miracles when you come to him. Never again 👏

I’ve been natural for 11 years and I won’t even let my mind go there, I love ❤️ my natural!!

I’m all for women doing whatever it is that they want to do to their hair. Your relaxed hair looks really nice, by the way.

I was a loose natural for ten years. I got micro locs last August because I wanted a low maintenance style. Having locs has been awesome as a busy mom, maybe that’s a style you should consider.

I have been natural for 8 years and it actually grown longer than when I was relaxed.

Been natural for about 10 years. I don't foresee myself going back to relaxers but I don't blame those who do. Whatever works for you you do. I see what you're saying about the convenience of relaxers. I just don't miss the burning sensation before washing it out nor do I miss going to the salon.

The texture difference between my new growth and relaxed lengths make getting a relaxer a HARD no for me. If I want a straight look I go with a silk press. Once I discovered I can have any look I want without chemical processing, I was good money lol.

I was natural for 4 years before relaxing my hair in October 2022. I love my natural hair but shedding tears on wash days because detangling was always knots and matting, and the styles I liked to wear only worked for an hour drive to work, a day or two. It really started to affect how I was feeling about how I looked; one day I might transition back to natural.
  • I was natural for about 7 years and then I relaxed it in 2021. I kept it in for 2 months and then did a big chop LOL. Fast forward to 2023 my hair is long and beautiful and natural! Idk I just wanted to see what relaxed hair was like again but with longer hair… got bored so fast. I feel my prettiest with my natural hair! But the straight look was cute for 2 months

I just relaxed my hair after 10 years. Dont regret it. It was too hard to maintain and to be honest I dont see myself going back. No matter what I did...twist out, wash and go, two strand twist...my ends were raggedy when I got a silk press. My edges started thinning, I never had that issue when relaxed hair.

Your relaxed hair looks healthy. I stopped relaxing due to concerns about the toxicity of relaxer chemicals. If not for that, AND if my hair looked better relaxed (it doesn't), I would be on that crack again due to ease of care.

Natural is the best I ever felt about my hair and myself. But tonight I am wearing knotless braids for the first time and I am loving them!

Was relaxed for 34 yrs. After covid hit, I went natural. It has been the best decision. My scalp and hair are much healthier even in stress. Probably will never go back.

I think the goal is healthy hair. I went natural 4 years ago because I was having radiation for breast cancer treatment and was having horrible shedding. I gave the relaxers a break and just never went back. Sometimes I miss my hair being straight, but to me curly is easier. I think your hair looks great. It's your hair, your choice.

I’ve been natural for five years 9/20/18, I’ll never go back to creamy crack. The chemicals are horrible. I love embracing and wearing my natural hair. I no longer care what people say or what they think. I just want to embrace what God gave me that grows out my scalp, no dye or nothing. Just trim my ends when needed and that’s it. Your hair is beautiful.

I big chopped during COVID and I never looked back! My natural hair journey has been wonderful!! Every stage of hair growth, I embraced; trying different techniques, trying products differently (I didn’t buy a lot of new “natural hair” products), sharing what I’ve learned with others, etc. I’ve always been a “hair” person and have treated “her” (my hair) very well. As a result, each and every time she understands the assignment and delivers. Ninety-nine percent of the time I’m rocking a WnG but I will switch the style up from time to time. My hair is simply magical and I cannot get enough.🙂

I just relaxed my hair after 13 years of being natural No regrets whatsoever! My hair shedded and I had breakage when I was natural and relaxed. But, for me relaxing pros out weighs the pros for being natural. So much easier to manage again.

You going back to natural hair after experienced relaxing your hair for the first time after being natural maybe a good thing, you can now make a more decisive decision because you have experience both. For example I used to always relax my hair but I decided to go natural for many reason it was my first time, after 3 years I thought I learned enough and I will be able to do better if I go back to relax hair, but after one year I saw the pros and cons of the 2, I realized natural hair is better for me and I get to keep more hair in my head. for some reason I experienced to much breakage while on relaxers. Now I have 3 years again since I went back to natural hair and I couldn’t be happier. I do want to try straight natural down the road, maybe in a couple of more years. 😊❤
