Been on and off the back burner for a few months, but finally got this done, and spent an hour on the visuals in this video, This just shows that any game is possible on another system, and can still be great if done right.

Imma bit rusty with FM Synthesis so forgive me if you think otherwise but... Enjoy!

By far and wide the best Genesis rendition.
  • @itamax
I've listened to this once over a year...now I come back to it and it's still awesome.
  • @X-RAGE
I prefer this version over the original, like if the song was made specifically for the YM2612 chip

This version is so great, and I love how you added more stuff in the original, especially 1:10!
  • Rare’s sound engines for the SNES and Mega Drive were very simple in 1991-1993. Unfortunately, Rare also stopped developing MD games in 1993 This cover is how I would imagine their MD games would sound in 1994-present, just like how their SNES games sounded really good during that time.

Wow, this is pretty dang good mate. I think you deserve more attention than this! :O

next time I hear somebody say that the Genesis sound hardware was far weaker than SNES, I'll show em this. Just as good, if not better than the original version! nice work.

This is probably the top 1 variation of this theme I have heard, second to this is the NEC pc engine version

This is amazing. I've been listening to it on loop nonstop for the past hour. Keep up the great work!

Lotta arguments about the superiority of SNES vs Genesis soundchips, and the best way to explain it is: In the era of 1991, where your options are Crunchy Electric Bits, Low/Mid-quality Samples, or MIDI, which sounds best? It really depends on the feel and sound you're going for. This sounds more electronic and the original sounds more airy/natural, which in my opinion, makes the original slightly better for theming the game, being about monkeys trying to save their friends and island from an industrial foe. This isn't bad by any means, neither is the Genesis! Genesis definitely kicked it hard with things like Thunder Force and Comix Zone, where it was much more fitting than a SNES soundfont would have been!

Wow this is stuning to hear :) Great work :)
  • @Alianger
Sounds good! Kinda reminds me of the waterworld and gods osts for MD.

Hey, I'm working on a little fangame made with Genesis assets. I'm absolutely in love with this & would love to use it in a level or scene with your permission.

This is fantastic. Is there anyway to get this on my Genesis to listen to it sing to me?
