The inspiration behind this video:
With Caple Jr. promising that the movie will feature Optimus Prime becoming "the Prime that we always knew," he's suggesting that, in some ways, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts could serve as something of an origin story for the character. Seeing a version of Optimus Prime who has not yet ascended to the status of this mythic hero could actually deepen the character and make the version of him that appears in other films even more compelling.
What's more, the director's comment hints that at the beginning of the film, Optimus Prime will not have rallied other Transformers to his cause, including the powerful Optimus Primal. It could be interesting to see Optimus Prime not yet command the authority that he's known for, struggling to prove himself as these different factions of Transformers all vie for the same thing. It remains to be seen how Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will compare to other installments in the franchise, but the film is already shaping up to mark an interesting change for one major character.
