"instead of accepting the things I cannot change, I'm changing the things I cannot accept" - words to live by

I interviewed her back in the mid 1980s. She is an American icon for freedom. She has endured the absolute worst this country has to offer.

What a country we live in, I choose to keep hoping

June 4, 1972 Angela Davis acquitted by an all-white jury. An important date that speaks to the possibility of interracial understanding. This year, on that date, it will be 50 years since that nationally important event.

I literally bumped into her once on campus at San Francisco State University! We were both rounding a corner in opposite directions outside the cafeteria and met in shock with two big smiles at our intense momentum, clashed with laughter and recognition and apologies from each of us. A lovely, intelligent woman; an inspiring speaker I’ve had the opportunity to hear in person on campus at Michigan State. Our brief meeting, a blessed gift!

It's both amazing and disappointing that we're still fighting the same fight today.

At 78, Angela Davis eyes still wide opened, moving strong and urging us on. Thank you dear sister.

Thank you Ms. Angela Davis for always speaking the truth about what is happening in America. You have been saying 50 yes ago we still have the same issue racial injustice, lack of criminal justice reform, white Suppremecy. The fight for equality and our freedom is still going on. You are a true American Patriot Ms. Davis for always speaking what is true.

Beauty, brains, and badassery.

"Heroine" - a woman admired or idealized for her courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Angela Davis!

Freedom, justice, equality...definitely worth fighting for!!!!

My first realization, was in the reaction of the horror of the “Birmingham church bombing” 60 years ago. And I weep for them this day. Then came our Archangel. That is you. Today, once again, our backs are against the wall. Speak Truth to Power, no justice, no peace. Know Justice and Know Peace ✊🏽🧬😎🇺🇸

How about her puritan ancestors that came over on the mayflower? Her reaction was priceless.
-
I remember seeing her Most Wanted poster in the post office .
-
She has been an inspiration to many of us! The Hoover Thugs maligned her unfairly. Thank you for inspiring my daughters - and me!
-

A true American hero! 🇺🇸💪🏾

The interviewer did not ask the very important questions like when she talked about abolition, why did she not ask what happens when somebody actually does something very very very unforgivable even in the most perfect Society.
-
Blessings to her still til this day she's still a powerful woman 👏🏿👏🏿✊🏿✊🏿

She is the age my mother would be now - our family marched for civil rights & Angela Davis is my hero.
