The Art of Editing and Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad's construction is bad in a way that's legitimately unsettling for a movie of this scope and budget. There's serious concerns about what Warner Brothers is up to with how the DC films are being handled in general that makes you wonder if they aren't going to implode entirely.

The Unicorn/Money change could've been absolutely hilarious if he was visibly worried after taking the stab, but then he pulls out the knife stuck in the money and breathes a sigh of relief, then pulls out the unicorn and hugs it.

I think something that could have been neat with the Unicorn is he, in a panic, checks what was stabbed. Seeing its the money, he tosses it aside like it's a day old diaper and checks his coat in a panic in order to see a completely unharmed unicorn, in which he'd give a very; almost out of character; comedically childish enthusiastic response at the unharmed unicorn.

It's all about subverting expectations. For example, most of the audience probably expected a competently made film.

Was anyone else bothered by the fact that Harley acted like they were a close family, but they barely spent time with each other. They were a group of manipulated prisoner who were thrown together, they shouldn't and didn't connect enough emotionally for her to act like that at the end.

the toy unicorn subversion was legitimately SO bizarre. like imagine if mickey mouse pulled out a rope, mentioned "it's a surprise tool that'll help us later", came across an unscalable cliff and then just found a grappling hook and never used the rope

How bad was the editing? How forgettable was the movie? It's been 4 years and I've just been made aware of the fact that Diabolo didn't make it in the end.
