She is Gone (Willie Nelson cover)-Max Washington

Published 2024-04-01
Press read more. She is Gone is a great song from Willie's brilliant 1996 album Spirit.
Willie is playing lots of concerts this year, as he does every year. He turns 91 in April. He still sings and plays wonderfully, and he's still hilarious.
His acting is wonderful in Songwriter, Honeysuckle Rose, and The Electric Horseman.
He's written tons of great songs, such as Crazy, Night Life, Still is Still Moving To Me, Bloody Mary Morning, December Day, Hello Walls, and many more.
He was born in Abbott, Texas, in 1933.
He was seven years old when he wrote his first song. He studied martial arts as a child, learning from manuals he ordered from ads in Batman and Superman comics.
During High School, he toured locally with the Bohemia Polka. He was their lead singer and guitar player.
He went to Baylor University for 2 years. He was a disc jockey at several radio stations in Texas.
He worked as a nightclub bouncer, saddle maker, tree trimmer, and autohouse partsman.
He had success selling his songs, but people thought his singing was odd. Years later, he called it back-phrasing. Kris Kristofferson told Willie: Back-phrasing my ass! You just ain't got no rhythm! lol!
Willie made lots of contacts at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. One night, he met Charlie Dick there. Charlie was married to Patsy Cline. Willie played Charlie a demo of his song Crazy. That song became a massive hit for Patsy.
Willie started to have some success as a singer. He moved to a ranch in Ridgetop, Tennessee. That ranch burned down in 1970, so he moved to a ranch in Bandera, Texas.
Willie started to be himself more and more, and that led to more and more success. He's a country singer and a jazz singer and an outlaw and a hippie.
In 1973, he produced and starred in the pilot episode of PBS's Austin City Limits.
His 1974 album, Phases and Stages, produced the hit single Bloody Mary Morning.
His next album, Red Headed Stranger, was a massive success.
Miles Davis once called Willie the greatest living jazz singer. Miles has a song called Willie Nelson.
Willie's 1978 album, Stardust, sold millions of copies. Most people said that it would fail. Willie knew that his audience would love the old standards.
Willie has appeared on Miami Vice, King of the Hill, Saturday Night Live, The Simpsons, Monk, Nash Bridges, and Space Ghost.
He sang with Sinead O'Conner on Don't Give Up, Bob Dylan on Heartland, Ray Charles on Seven Spanish Angels, and Waylon and Merle and Kris and Johnny on many songs.
