You notice that the toy piano melody at the start is actually the overlying rhythm of the entire track

I love the disconnect between regular people and people who are involved with making music when they react to polyphia. Regular people are like "umm that was cool?" and music people are drooling. Another band that gets the musicians to react a lil spicy is doll$boxx. Very different, but extremely talented none the less

Thanks for your reaction to this. I am 38 and haven't played in a traditional band since grade school. But when I heard this song, my music ear tuned in and I had to listen to this song on repeat for about 20 minutes because of all the complexity. I shared this song with friends and no one could appreciate the complexity in the song and how much skill is needed to have this kind of timing. I have seen some videos of them playing live and they hold this mastery even on the stage.
  • @cowfreezy
All your band students are gonna think you’re cooler than you were before reacting to this now.
  • the best grooves feel like the drums and bass are two people cooperatively playing one instrument. check out Sokoninaru, Dirty Loops, and Covet. some of the best musicians i've ever heard.
  • Craziest thing is Tim Henson, the lead guitarist with the short hair was only like 23-24 when this dropped, he arranges alot of the music and he prides himself on creating these catchy, complex, almost trap-music-esque riffs.
  • @jakethebard
It's so cool to see a band director doing music reactions! I love seeing people who are largely from my industry getting into this kind of stuff!
  • @Bassgod84
Hey many really appreciate you’re perspective. Great reaction! By the way you can use the space bar to pause/resume and the left and right arrow keys to flash back like 5 seconds or something like that!! Great video
  • @chinruiz4113
5:16 their style of kick-to-bass drives that 808-fruity-loops hiphop feel
  • @D_Carnage
I love seeing a band teacher react to this compared to just a guitar or drum teacher. It's really great how you can add something about the song as a complete, and how certain players are playing together in certain rythms. Great video!
  • @ramrod924
I've never noticed how the bass drum and the bass were hitting a lot of those notes together during the bass solo
  • @jtjones73
And no one steps on anyone else's sound. With everything that is going on, all the complex and insane playing and they are so in time with each other that no one steps on or plays over anyone else, they play along instead. That takes some serious talent. You should watch Rick Beato's interview with Tim Henson. I was about ready to just toss my guitars in the fire pit out back after he told Rick that it took him quite a while to get his solo's for GOAT down, maybe an hour or two! Seriously? It took me an hour or two to be able to listen to the entire guitar part. But then Tim never stops playing his guitar in every interview I have seen him on.
  • You really need headphones to appreciate this song. The technique and unusual use of chord changes & perfect drum work is AMAZING. These guys are all technical Geniuses.

7:10 maaaannn this takes me back, when I was in HS we had this place called the MRC (Music Resource Center) which was basically a full-on studio just for kids. They converted the basement of an old church and used the main floor for shows, I've literally been a part of this scene just jammin in a church with friends xD
  • @nathancail7939
The Clay's in this song are the literal definition of playing in the pocket.
