Croteam's first game, Football Glory on the Amiga, looked a LOT like Sensible Soccer -- however it add quite a few new techniques and a lot of chaos into the mix. Here's a big look at the game as well as publishers Black Legend, and how it all led up to a certain PC classic named Serious Sam. Enjoy!

What do you reckon? Is this one of the best footie games around, or is it just a shameless Sensible Soccer rip-off? Have a shout in the comments, and thanks for watching! :)

One of the great pleasures is how your subject matters are actually about the culture around the art and how they influence each other. Genuine appreciation for the British culture and this time... Croatian. As always, extremely involving work you do.

Can't wait to watch this. I'm a huge fan of both Serious Sam and The Talos Principle and Croteam retrospectives usually don't cover this period of their history much.
  • @dermoooojj255
Never knew about this one, the Croatian football team of that time were as exciting as this game by the looks of it
  • why dont i remember this????? really honeslty never seen it before yet spent hundreds of hours playing SWOS! so yet again, thanks!
  • Not out tonight, sitting in with some "treats" watching the Euros...... Then notice there's a new Kim vid. Noice! 😁😁
  • @Megaspartan23
How fitting that I watch this on my break at work while Croatia plays against Italy in Euro 2024.
  • @FPSmodz-
The speed boost mechanic is present in the the modern Super Arcade Football switch/pc/xbox/Playstation. Great game, worth a look if you like this style of footer game
  • @Inverse_Midas
Top notch video as always Kim. Knew it wouldn’t sway you from sensible! I’m curious to give it a bash now.
  • completely missed this back in the 90s but just added to my amiga mini afteer rewatching your top 100 vid, impeccable timing as always. Sierra Soccer is another one I barely remember but seems quite good
  • Oh my God I loved this game! I can actually still remember buying the DOS edition from Game in Loughborough purely because it had Geoff Hurst and the World Cup on the front of it. It quickly replaced my bootleg copy of SWOS as the main reason my mum would tell me to get off the family computer!
  • I was never interested in sports games but I love these examinations of early game development, another great video Kim!

Another great video, Kim. Sorry but my favourite football game is the original Football Manager on the Spectrum. 🤣
  • A more in-depth look on the subject of one of my favourite Kim videos. In many ways, I consider the Sensible Soccer ports on the SNES to be more polished versions of Football Glory (sans the humour) that actually predated Football Glory (Super Football Glory Zero V1 & V1.1 perhaps), with their slightly bigger graphics and the fact that if you play the American version of Sensi V1.2 (Championship Soccer '94), it's probably as fast as Football Glory.
  • Awesome video , grew up playing Croteam games and this was a treat. Thanks 🙏 for making it.
  • @ChrisSmout
While I don't like sports games, this one looks to be a roaring good time and super entertaining, would totally love to try this one out.
  • @Xyphoe
Oh I LOVED this game, had it on PC! Cracking video Kim! <3
  • @plume...
Brian Butterfield was a welcome surprise here, cheers Kim!

Love this game. love when the matches got cancelled because of bad weather etc. skidding in snow etc...there is so much cool in here... toilet rolls on the fields etc. IMO this is a 95% / 100 title :)
