Aspergers In Society - Behind The Scenes // Episode #6 with Adam Mohamed

2020-06-05に共有
Aspergers In Society is a Manchester-based documentary about the relationship between autism and mental health

Over the course of the filming process, I was introduced to a number of interesting autistic individuals & struck by the quality of these opinions and experiences, I decided to create a series of Behind The Scenes videos to showcase these marvellous people!

In this episode, we take a peek behind the scenes at one of our autistic interviewees - Adam Mohamed - and delve deeper into the topics discussed in the documentary 'Aspergers In Society'.

On the related blog post, we will be talking about 'Autism & Improving Social Skills - Introvert To Extrovert'
You can find information on the blog section at - www.aspergersinsociety.com/

Adam will also be making an appearance on the Thoughty Auti Podcast in the future to talk about building social skills independently, so make sure to subscribe to the podcast or channel to get notified!

  • Aspergers growth You could have done a collection of this interview then just uploaded each week. So a T.V interview series. Your behind scene videos is amazing it like a series in itself. So next no documentary. A collection of recorded interview would be great for channel in the future. Like me you learnt to be a good listener because you been observing people. So that why your great interviewer and listening. I heard someone it might have been you on the channel say. "If we are not the best talker it makes us a good listener".
  • A good explanation of autism from Adam- having to learn the social characteristics that most people have hard wired within them!. I like this explanation because it highlights how we are not without social graces (a pernicious stereotype), but we can (if we have a good intellect) arrive at a similar place to non autistics but via a very exhausting (and unnatural) route. The output therefore belies the hidden effort and confusion.
  • Social interaction more rewarded if it is learn rather than "normal" other people words. They just find communication natural. Attwood lecture says that NT are wired to socialise read a face from the age of child development. This is a positive way of looking at communication disorder. It like him saying we passed our NT communication degree at university. If we have aspergers then we have.
  • Hi Tom Saying he cured I guess that's O.K I feel like that most days. As he says he cured of his former self. The social anxious, not learning this emotions, I don't know he work on deep compensation which is learning your theory of mind deficit. Do you think Adam had problems with theory of mind while you interviewed him?
  • He was diagnosed at 3 jealous same as you being diagnosed in childhood. I didn't respond to my own name. School though I was deaf wasn't sadly the indifference stayed the same no school psychologist until I was 15 but that nothing to do with me being different I just stop doing any school work. Childhood Depression. Not answering your own name now I read Attwood book it's hyper focus in children.
