So it's deemed too risky to intercept these people who are coming to Britain illegally. However, it's not too risky for the British people to have mainly young men on their streets that we know nothing about. Double standards.

If the French think that any action at sea is unsafe then they should stop anyone leaving. Instead they condone it.

Question: If I set off to sea, with a leaky, un-provisioned boat, totally unsuitable for the journey - HAVE I THE RIGHT TO BE EXPECTED TO BE RESCUED by having a sitting safety net to catch me when I fail. People have to take responsibility for their actions and folly. STOP THE RESCUES - make it clear, they set off don't expect a freebie, fast trip midway.

Why would the boats stop? The gangs have a key selling point ie it’s safe as you get escorted by the French to the midway mark and the Brits will take over from there. Minimal risk in comparison to previously.
