Challenge: Buying the Onett House | Earthbound

There is actually a small reward for getting the house, and to me it's really worth all the trouble. if you sit on the couch, the photographer takes a picture, and "something" happens when you check the dresser with an open drawer in it. but I won't spoil it for you, i'll just tell you that it was REALLY funny. Enjoy!

I unintentionally did this challenge without thinking about it! I remember playing this game a long time ago. It wasn't the first run, but surely one i did beat. I remember grinding so much until i was able to buy that house, a lot of punks got their ass kicked that day, and because of that, i was able to reach level 14ish... Took me more than an hour or so! Even when i bought it for the first time, looking broken and ruggish, i still felt a sense of acomplishment, lol. And all of that before Frank haha!

I cant wait until someone is crazy enough to get level 99 just fighting the sharks in onnet. some crazy guy out there has to have done that to prove a point

Gotta do a run where u buy the house before fighting frank, buy all the items in the store in winters with jeff alone, and getting all the 1/128 items

Extra tip for fighting the Sharks, they move awkwardly and slowly enough that it's fairly easy to pull one at a time and ensure solo encounters, anyone who's played one of most MMORPGs will get this. As long as you're 4-5 and they don't call for help, it's pretty much an auto win, great way to pull ahead early, especially for those without savestates. Also, note for the post-Captain Strong 'Easy' difficulty, getting shroom'd by the Ramblin' Evil Mushrooms and selling it off to the Healer could be a decent strat there, though you'll be frustrated walking around with rotated controls, fast-forward is less viable there, so potentially not even worth it on emulator.

I once did a speedrun version of buying the Onett's house, basically doing it before the dad call, which amounts to nearly 2 hours. It eliminates the monotonous long grind, and takes a bit of routing.

This challenge was easier than sword of kings (I have been grinding the sword of kings for hours and all of my party members have leveled up 75+ and I have a ton of cash just by fighting lots of starman supers)

The only challenge I have ever attempted in this game is the sword of Kings drop. I was thinking it might be cool if you did a tier list video on Earthbound challenges. Tbh I wasn’t even aware of this challenge. Would be cool to have a full video explaining some of the more popular challenges. It would not necessarily need to be you playing through a challenge like you did in this video, but just a higher level this was fun to do, not worth your time (bragging rights only), insane could be You’re a masochistic. Is Nuzlocke a thing for Earthbound? I know it is in Pokémon but idk about Earthbound.

I love these videos. I said it before but I didn’t say it well. I would love an Earthbound playlist separate from the Earthbound play throughs. Speaking of Onette, I’m curious how many found the secret Treehouse in the game? I never found it as a kid it wasn’t until I saw the Completionist play it that I ever even knew it existed.

I cant believe im just learning this now... i always thought money in EB was strickly leveling... every level = get some money, and at some point you get so much it doesnt matter and its commical at that, call dad, "hey i see you reached level 99, my paycheck just hit so heres your allowance - 2 billion dollars, im going to bed..."

I somehow a few game plays back got a meteorite piece by grinding I cannot remember what monster it was but dang! I was shocked I sold it bought the house.
