This arcade game is definitely based on the 1989-1992 TV series G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (DiC version).

For special matters G.I. Joe the arcade is my favorite arcade game with great boss battles and it's also good seeing Cobra Commander standing his ground and fighting like a true villain and not retreating like a coward in the cartoon series. More importantly Cobra Commander needs to learn how to fight like Megatron, M.Bison, and Skeletor,

Konami first tried this concept with Devastators, but it was met with lukewarm reception so they improved the mechanics and purchased the rights for GI Joe and here is what we got.

¡Recuerdo muy bien que junto con mis amigos saliamos de trabajar y nos íbamos a 'Sacoa' una sucursal que tenía todos estos juegos clásicos de la década de los 90' y jugábamos unas fichas en este bello video-juego,que hermoso recuerdo,gracias a Youtube por su publicación!👍😏
