Thank you so much HelloFresh for sponsoring this video!

This week I had to get a bit uh... creative with what I filmed due to the flooring being installed in my house. So here we are, in MAH BARN, turning crappy thrifted items into not-as-crappy decor! No lie, I had a ton of fun with this and giving 'new life' to these babies. ANYWHO I hope you enjoy!!

Hi all! I know this past week has been absolutely heart-breaking regarding the situation in Ukraine, and I wasn't sure if I should even be posting my usual content when so many are being affected. It's something I think doesn't really have a RIGHT answer, but I figured if posting could provide a bit of an escape and entertainment to even a few people who need it, it would be worth it. I'll also be donating this video's adsense earnings to Ukrainian charities. I didn't want to wait for those numbers to roll in, so I've already donated $500 to UNICEF to help Ukrainian children (will donate more accordingly). I sincerely hope my posting "funny" content isn't taken as not caring for the situation, but to hopefully provide some wholesome escapism in an otherwise terrible time. Thank you & I love you all!
  • this video has such "Why would I buy it for $5 at target when I can make it myself for $75 in craft supplies" energy

    Rachel: “Good delivery service 5 stars ⭐️ ” Nick: 😘 Rachel: “Ooo 6 stars ⭐️ “

Can this be a series? Because HOLY HELL this was so inspiring from now on I'm just going to thrift for 'shitty' items.

Hi Rachel, I am almost 70, and my aesthetic is “basic old hippy.” Despite that, and my no-makeup, no-maintenance lifestyle, I find you delightful, inspiring, and wonderful. Please don’t ever stop, you bring me so much joy!
  • Rachel: ooh delivery. Five stars Rachel: gets a little kiss Rachel: six stars Adorable 🥺
  • Its nice to see someone sanding down an ugly paint job to bare wood and staining it. I've seen too many "upcycling" vids where someone takes some gorgeous antique furniture, then absolutely ruins it with a tacky paint job or slapping wallpaper or a collage on it. Sure, its great for cheap modern furniture, but I've seen to many once stunning antiques destroyed.

"If you can't find it, you make it yourself." This is why I'm sewing my own wedding dress. 😅

Rachel: films every single outfit reveal in a giant field Rachel to Nick: "How do you not recognize this giant field!"

I need more of this content. Many of the DIYers that I’ve followed from their beginnings, and cherished for their imperfect charm and realism, have kinda gone “commercial.” And while I still enjoy their content, I miss that “just a normal person trying to make things” charm. This video gave me a nice serotonin hit from the nostalgia. 🥰

"Sometimes, we make decisions. And regardless of the outcome, we have to pretend it's on purpose." Never related to a quote more as I work through DIYing upgrades to a bathroom 🤣
  • As someone who has a really hard time just relaxing without guilt, "Time you enjoy wasting is not time wasted" may be my new motivational (or demotivational?) motto. Definitely stitching/painting that and hanging it somewhere by my desk 💕

I love the term "maker". When people find out I'm artistic they're always asking "Oh do you draw?" Well yeeeah... but I paint, I sew, write, I make costumes, set decorations, makeup effects, jewelry, and this, and that, and the other thing. "Crafty" makes it sound like I'm making wreaths or knitting or something. "Maker" encompasses the true essence of a human tornado. People who are good at a ton of things but maybe not an expert at any ONE thing. Well, except maybe expert at hiding the hot glue and the messy stitches lol.

I quite like the barn as a filming location. I'm getting major school house vibes from this set up!
  • @TheOmNomGirl
You should use the cabinet as a moss terrarium! The door is perfect for misting it and other than that it’s basically maintenance free. Creating a vertical composition will be interesting, but you could use/do all sorts to things (eg just surround the outside perimeter, have ledges that jut out to drape stuff on, make a tiny swing, float fairies or some small decorations with fishing line) Alternatively, fake ant farm.

The barn has a Victorian schoolroom feel. Perfect for craft demonstration.

Rachel with her goth shirt, grey paint streak, and respirator, armed with a dremel = peak mad inventor vibes 👌🏻
  • 10:50 “sometimes we make decisions, and regardless of the outcome, we have to pretend that it was on purpose” 😂😂😂 me everyday l

The "Oooh six stars" warmed my heart more than I was expecting that was so sweet

The fact that she didn't tape or cover the frame at all before painting the new picture in there is STRESSING ME OUT 😆
