Fair amount of "X is not a one hit wonder!" comments - we address this in the video but the definition we used here is artists who have one song that is known broadly WAY more than their other works. Doesn't mean they're bad, or that they were unsuccessful with their other music. I love many of these artists

Ok, a-ha just had one big hit in US, but 13 singles reached the top10 in UK. They were big in Europe but also toured the world several times, last time in 2019. So they kept on for years, but for me its the 80s iconic sound I treasurešŸŽ¶šŸŽ¶

I never wrote a comment so fast. As a german Nena was definitely not a one hit wonder in our country šŸ˜… The amount of songs played in the radio or by mothers of the 80/90 is so high šŸ¤£

"Come On Eileen" can still fill a British dance floor. This was a fun collection with interesting commentary.
  • @trinaq
"The Sun Always Shines on TV" is a fantastic song, it's a shame that it tends to be overshadowed by "Take on Me."

I would not call Hozier a one hit wonder. His music is not very mainstream but he's got a big fan base and sells out pretty big venues, especially in the US and UK. And he's an INCREDIBLE musician! Every single sound is played live on stage in his concerts.
  • @CoolScratcher
Hozier is awesome. He has very atmospheric alt pop music with very grounded styles. Extremely underrated artist

It's crazy Gotye isn't more popular cuz he has a great voice. Goes from super low, to gritty/smooth high notes ā¤

I gotta say, Nena with 99 Luftballons definitly was a one hit wonder outside of Germany, but over here locally her songs still performed reaaaalllly well
  • @RodKim
This was fun! Thanks for having me Roomie!šŸŽ‰

Gotye is genuinely one of my favorite artists. Hearts a mess is great, so it eyes wide open. My favorites from him are bronte and night drive, but honestly anything from making mirrors is awesome.

5 Random Music Facts: 1.Cee Lo Green's "F--- You" was written by Bruno Mars. 2.Many of Britney Spears's greatest hits were rejected meant for, or written by other artists. 3.Aerosmithā€™s ā€œI Donā€™t Want to Miss a Thingā€ was originally written for Celine Dion. 4.Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'N Roll" was a cover. 5.The song ā€œSweet Child of Mineā€ was written in five minutes.
  • "Eyes Wide Open" by Gotye is unironically one of my favorite songs ever, it's so damn good!

Weird thinking that Jimmy Eat World is considered a one hit wonder. They have a huge and dedicated following and are known as Emo and Pop Punk legends. Great band. One of my favorites.

Would love to see more of Jonas again šŸ˜ miss him

Nena was a one hit wonder internationally. But in Germany she had multiple hits and is a music icon. I grew up in the Netherlands and there she also had multiple hits. Around new years eve we always have a special list where people can vote for the top 2000 songs of all time and Nena is always in that list with at least 3 songs. But she brought out 71 singles of which most are well known in mainly countries where they understand German.
  • When it comes to Foster the People, I canā€™t say ā€œCall it what you wantā€ was bigger, and didnā€™t even know it was made by them, Iā€™ve heard ā€œCall it what you wantā€ so many times due to it being on the FIFA 23 soundtrack. Itā€™s also a absolute banger!

My mom and I absolutely fell in love with Gotye! She bought his CD and I swear I wore it out. I wasn't a fan of State of the Art (my mom loved it) but I still swear by Eyes Wide Open, Hearts a Mess, and Easy Way Out
