About BLADE RUNNER 2049
Blade Runner 2049 is a stunning epic action film and a sequel to 1982’s Blade Runner. A profound and dangerous discovery threatens to blur the line separating humans from machines forever. Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve. Also starring Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana De Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri and Lennie James.

Moderated by Demis Hassabis, CEO of DeepMind.

Denis is probably the best working director right now, or at least my favorite.
  • Just like Nolan, Villeneuve has quickly become one of those directors that when you see his name you can guarantee the movie is going to be very good and a must see. Arrival was one of the best movies to come out in the last 10 years. "Abbott is Death Process"
  • Seen it today, masterpiece plain and simple, and the best looking movie I have ever seen, Roger Deakins will surely get his first Oscar for this one.
  • It hurts that Blade Runner 2049 wasn't financially successful. It is easily my favorite sci-fi film of all time, only standing next to the anime film Ghost in the Shell. I hope more directors take chances like Denis did and make more films like this.

Denis is proof that you can be a genius while being grounded, articulate and kind. I love listening to his interviews.

Back less than 2 hours from a viewing. IMO 2049 is one of those very rare examples of a sequel that succeeds on its own while simultaneously enhancing and expanding on what made the original so great. For me 2049 was a more enjoyable viewing experience hitting an impressive balance between visceral awe and intellectual/philosophical stimulation and engagement. That said, none of that would be possible without the original. Villeneuve is an artist to be treasured and given our full support. In an age of decline in the general quality of filmmaking, as fans of great cinema he is the answer to our prayers. Bravo, Denis!
  • Blade Runner 2049 was one of the best movies Denis has ever made PERIOD... Better hope that Deakins gets his Oscar, otherwise we riot!
  • @frenchpet
I couldn't believe it, but I think 2049 was better than the first one!

When I saw 2049 and realized the was NOT going to answer if Deckard was or was not human, I knew the film had solidified itself as a worthy peer to the original. The scene where he's crying and says 'I know what's real' was such flawless sci-fi.
  • The fuck is up with some of these comments? That was a great, and very human interview of a visionary director with questions from an informed interviewer. Thanks for sharing this content.
  • Such a humble genius. Blade Runner 2049 is the best thing in decades. I can't wait to see it 100 more times
  • @Antishyr
Villeneuve is the hope, the future and the NOW of the cinematography.
  • Denis is going to be the greatest director of this generation!!

Denis Villeneuve, thank you for not messing this up. The new Blade Runner movie, is already a classic in my mind. It did not shame the first one, and even though the first will forever be my absolute number 1 movie ever, yours is now a kickass number 2. Awesome, and once again, thank you for this masterpiece.
  • Denis Villeneuve is making Québec an Canada proud! great interview
  • Blade Runner is so forward thinking and cinematically profound that people will be talking about it for decades to come.
