Why James Gunn is Perfect for Superman

I've said it before and I'll say it again: James Gunn simply doesn't miss.

I'm just so happy we're getting a Superman film made by someone who wont play it safe and clearly loves the character and comics in general. Im very interested to see how he approaches Superman Legacy visually. I love how Gunn always appreciates the importance of practical effects

I also went into GotG 3 hoping that it would let me escape and be happy for 2.5 hours bc I haven't been doing well mentally lately too but instead of escapism it allowed me to cry for 2 straight hours and let out all the sadness I had built up which, for that, I thank James Gunn

The most comforting thing about James gunn being the Superman director is the fact that he's clearly a Morrison fan, can't go wrong when All Star is your source. Speaking of which, Clark: a Superman story was a masterpiece, fantastic job

I think he is great for Superman especially after the heart and soul that he pored into Guardians and how beloved he made those unknown characters

Guardians 3 is the first comic book movie that truly made me cry. Half those tears were of joy when I truly realized how special the future of DC will be

I hope you know that you are far from worthless. As someone who struggles with depression, I actually find a lot of joy in watching your videos and seeing the pure love you have for storytelling and the portrayal of these beloved characters. Just know that you will always have value to us.

Your experience walking into Guardians 3 was really close to mine. I think James Gunn has the amazing skill to take a character who feels hopeless and turn them hopeful. He does with his characters and in turn does it with his audience. I feel like compassion, love, and hope are things missing in most superhero media today, but those are the things that always pulled me in. It's those qualities which make me believe that I can be a better person. And that's what makes me so excited that James is directing Superman: Legacy. We're in a time where we really need that hope and love and Superman is the perfect symbol for that.

I like James Gunn because he actually makes us feel for the characters with emotions. Instead of characters just kinda bouncing off those genuine feelings. Also James Gunn likes Ultraman so he is based, he made Bloodsport utilize an upgradeable blaster like it's merch from Ultraman. He knows how to make superhero films not seem too good to explore the purely fun and emotional aspects of superheroes.

Imagine Bautista as Bizarro! Gunn would kill with that storyline. Gunn understands the three things you need in a superhero movie: character, color, & lots of great splash pages.

DEFINITELY need a Superman: Legacy prewrite!! (Also, please make Green Arrow one as well, I really loved that video)

In the end of the day the reason James Gunn will work is because he understands what Superman Represents

After gotg 3, we can confirm he can make an awesome dark movie.
