I am totally on Rosss side regarding the $100 for the handyman he's never met, too! The guy is leaving just as Ross came in, and has never done anything for Ross. Ross might have suggested a $10 tip as a basic gesture, but the rest of the building should have been understanding. This is one of the few times when Phoebe's savagery is actually shown to backfire, but I just love her comments on the other tenants..

One of the reasons why the couch is so damaged is in a deleted scene where when the couch is stuck on the stairs Rachel accidentally hits the fire alarm and people from the building come down and run/jump on it to get past, it's deleted but it might be on the DVD/ Blu ray version not sure, broadcast versions it's cut for some reason, maybe to make time for commercial breaks?
