As the Republican National Convention enters its third day, we speak with political science professor Clarence Lusane on how Donald Trump is trying to increase his appeal with Black voters. A number of Black lawmakers have spoken at the RNC, including South Carolina Senator Tim Scott and North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson. Lusane says that “Donald Trump never has anything positive to say about the Black community,” and that his effort to showcase diversity at the RNC is to “gaslight the Black community.”

No one talks about him suing HUD in the 1970s insisting he had a constitutional right to discriminate and not rent to black families.
  • Black people, stop voting on emotion, voting is transactional, get something for your vote like every other group does
  • A correction: That TRUMP TRUMP BABY song is No. 8 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and Rap Digital Song Sales tallies. That is not the same as having the number 8 song on the billboard hot 100 (aka the number 8 song in the nation). Typically, pro conservative records do extremely well on sales for a week or 2 and then immediately plummet off the charts.

Freddie Mercury would be spinning in his grave hearing his music sampled in that political trash!
  • Oh no, he is pretty much gaslighting the whole world at this point...

He's also the Housing Discrimination Prince of the NY City Burroughs as his Dad -- the King -- and he pushed for racial discrimination against blacks and hispanics at their apartments.

Didn't know there were black or brown jobs specifically. Really was a great opportunity to ask what a "black or brown job" was. Which jobs was he talking about?

As a young black man myself and young professional . People are very quick to place you in a box . DEI is not brought up to us in military service or highly physical intensive work . That’s expected , especially if you are a larger black man . .This is so ingrained people couldn’t fathom that I did not want to play football and cited my grades as the reason why. And the only time other interests are applauded is when success and money comes . Although I believe that changing slowly in my generation . I was taught I could do whatever I wanted and it. Was no limit or job to good to bad or meant for me . There is also lack of support in our homes for kids to pursue various roles as people follow what they know and see around them .
  • 💥💙🗳🇺🇸💯💯💯💥 Trump don't give black Nothing. To be proud of.
  • Voting for Trump is like turkeys voting for Christmas. He don't want you, he just wants your vote. 🙄😑
  • This is so infuriating and insulting to us as Black people to believe we don't have common senses and don't do research on the political candidates running for office and we are just going to take the words of either a Black reality star or a rapper. These two people drunk the Maga Republicans ' kool-aid.
