Why they are wrong about Jill Valentine

Publicado 2024-03-10
The idea for this video came as a reaction to some fans' rejection of Jill Valentine's new portrayal and design in recent RESIDENT EVIL productions, in particular RESIDENT EVIL 3 remake (2020) and RESIDENT EVIL: DEATH ISLAND. I found the reviews unfair and some reactions exaggerated... So I felt the need to explore the character from her origins to her last appearance to date, to demonstrate that the character hadn't changed all that much, contrary to what some would like to claim. A false controversy to attract attention or a justified rejection? You be the judge.

Special thanks to Mono Memory for the amazing remix of RE3's save room theme!

I grew up watching 80’s n 90’s horror movies. I enjoyed the cheesy lines from the original Resident Evil.

It’s not just Jill at all but the swearing in R3make did seem forced and cringe, like something bitter Gen X writers think millennials and younger wanted. “Bitch can’t even swim.” “Now here’s a weird fuckin’ door.” “Get off my train, shit bird.” (Trailer Park Boys reference? lol) If anything I think her and Carlos were both portrayed as less mature than in OG3, although Carlos was already characterized by immature moments and he is less iconic. That said, I like 2 and 3 remakes’ characters, my gripe with R3make is that it’s criminally short and for no especially good reason.
