Just as an FYI which may be confusing people, there was a reason I never said in the video that Power Creep is "ruining the game" or anything along those lines, for a game with said Item Progression, items unfortunately do get pushed into the back-alley to make way for a shiny new one.

I honestly think Power Creep is an eventuality that sets in on every single game, lest it become less interesting to much of its playerbase. This is not to say that it's the ONLY way to make a game more and more interesting especially for the older player base, but it simply the most obvious and easiest way to do so. And so it will happen. Hopefully DECA will continue to pursue other areas of growth in the game other than power creep to flesh out the game even more than they have. But I think the important thing to understand is that, there could always be innovative creative solutions to problems, but they don't have to be mutually exclusive, and in this case they almost never are. The best we can hope for is that they pursue both at the same time. An idea I've been championing for 5+ years now is to add vault/house customization and collectibles in the same way Animal Crossing's core gameplay relies upon. Its an entirely separate by parallel space of the game that is much in line with most of RotMG's collectibles culture. But, instead of purely just items and vanities, allowing players to build a house full of creative artwork, accomplishments, vanities, accessories would just add so much more to the world of RotMG. It would be, to me at least, a full immersion into an MMORPG world where you not only fight to survive by yourself, but to customize and share with your friends.

hard-core gasped when you mention wynncraft. I love that server to the moon and back
  • tiered and UT items used to be completely different. Tiered items had easy shot patterns and a good consistent DPS that you could rely on. UT items were usually more or less dps but the shot patterns made it so that they were only good in certain situations. With lost halls and o3 whites deca tried to do this with items like Colo sword and Avarice dagger but they made it so that the Negatives of the item are really miniscule and don't effect gameplay nearly enough. Demon blade was high dps but only because you had to be close to an enemy whereas Colo sword is high dps but you have more range and a shot pattern that is extremely easy to control and people who say it's situational are laughable. The community complain about being bored after steamrolling 300 o3s in discords in 3 weeks in a completely unnatural way, and then deca reward this with extremely overpowerd items. It's almost like every new dungeon is a new version of the game in that the gear people wear is so different. It's gone from; Dblade, draconis armour, crown, to colo sword, mercys bane, crown, to Divinity, O3 armour, horn. I think Deca are so focused on making the community happy and be better than Kabam that they completely forget about power creep and how much of a drastic effect it actually has. I would argue in certain aspects (Like keeping the game loyal to its origins) Kabam was a lot better than deca. This might have been out of incompetence from a Kabam or a complete coincendence but it's definitely a thing.

doom bow was and kinda still is my favorite weapon, it was unique compared to the tiered bows and was super good in some situations, and could be mained back in 2013-2015ish, but now archer/huntress are banned in a lot of O3 discords because bows don't stack up to the new O3 whites, would have at least been cool to get a good bow in O3. archer and huntress are my favorite classes, but I can't seem to play them in endgame dungeons without being outed by someone for using a bad class, really sucks.

One thing I think that is kind of related (not really though lol) is the aesthetics of items as the progression continues. I always wear fire dragon battle armor on my knight, not because its good, rather because I love how it looks.

One of the best rotmg content videos ive seen in a very long time. You certainly covered the necessary points. You could make an hour long video, but I think this was enough. Thank you very much. Rip kelrocks
  • You gotta remember that somewhere out there, there's a mid-level necro main who absolutely fucking loves Tezzie's Tail. I know they're out there, because that's me. I'm that player.
  • @Jakyub
Great video glad this was recommended to me

good video, pretty solid on comparing other game to realm. I kinda agree with the whole game breaking bug thing that would com along with the adition of elements, and idk if it would fit the games overall theme. It is a great thaught and i enjoy the videos afro. Have a good time in university, keep pushing out the great content, and have a good one

I just found your channel and you've got some great content. I appreciate the work you should defintly make some oryx sanctuary tips I have trouble completing it.
  • @AidanqtFeesh
Thanks for your thoughts! In general, I don't see too many players disregarding other items completely just because they are using a best in slot item. However, I do notice players doing this for rings such as crown, horn, cranium etc.
  • @frkcybtw
Honestly, I don't mind powercreep as much as I used to. The extra space in my inventory from not carrying 4+ swapouts is amazing.
  • @hokageobama4003
I'm glad somebody finally said it. Thank you. It's real annoying when talking about situational weapons and just because it's not the best weapon it's automatically considered bad.
  • This is still very relevant for today’s realm. I’ve been playing for 9 years and there’s no other game like it. I hope players are more open minded when indulging in this shared addiction

The only problem with power creep, and this has been like a thing ever since Divine Pets became possible and broken, is that the only way to really improvise with power creep is for enemies to do a fuck ton of damage in one attack almost to the point where it can compensate for all the increase in stats that players get especially with Exalt currently a thing. Take O3 for example, that Dungeon is a player killing mob wipe for anyone unprepared and a loot Goldmine for anyone who has mastered the mechanics. With the strongest (currently) tiered weaponry and arguably strongest UTs, comparable to Shatters and Lost halls, it becomes a loot driven drive to want to complete the dungeon. HOWEVER, this also raises the standard for a lot of group runs. At one point, if you had Wine cellar Tops and was at least 6/8 or 4/8 you were considered a top tier player upon most discord dungeon runs, and I’m not even talking about the elite runners. It causes this vacuum that is ever expanding for players who want to get this high tier loot, to rely on learning in pubs or small, sometimes uncoordinated, groups or guilds. As such, those who are in the group runs are getting more and more top tier loot by the minute and leaving the lower ones out to dry. Now normally this wouldn’t too big of an issue. You would learn the dungeon, get the loot, and progress forward. The problem lies in not only RNG, because sometimes the loot can very fickle, but also the amount of damage enemies can do. Oryx Sanctuary is a profitable dungeon, it’s also a very dangerous dungeon, requiring you to learn on the fly if you don’t have access to a testing server or guild that teaches you, and can kill you quickly (with some cases Insta popping) if your unprepared. Some examples: Dammahs Miasma phase (Harder when players PvP in that phase), Leucoryx counter phases, Beisa, O3 Celestial. So much struggle and pain and learning just for something your not garunteed to get. And let’s not forget too, unless you are on a designated server or discord run, or if there’s an event, then you may never see O3 depending on the right circumstances. But a Wine Cellar is more common if not at least guaranteed to happen in every server. And back then, the weapons and armor you could get from a wine cellar, were considered Top Tier. Tl;Dr. power creep sets a bar and constantly raises the standard of acceptability for players especially when it comes to new environment and constant runs. But because of the lack of commonality within that new content and the difficulty of getting your hands on that top tier loot, it can be hard for those who don’t have designated guilds or servers who can run them constantly to get up to that point. Therefore causing a gap between those who want to learn and progress and those who have already mastered the content and have more loot then they know what to do with.
