  • The older I get, pushing 74, the more I view this song as one of the pure masterpieces of Garcia and Hunter. The Warlocks appeared on my mind in the summer of 1965 as band with a guy playing an electric guitar like a banjo. For thirty years they promoted adventure and freedom. God bless The Grateful Dead.

I’ve worked for the railroad for 18 years in train service. Many a long night Terrapin rang in my head. Saw it, smelled it, lived it on the high iron. Every type of day, time, weather and beyond.

Turning this on a jukebox use to be my fave way to irritate a bar

I’m stuck in Baltimore traffic after the bridge collapse and just found this gem. All my favorite jams and played in Baltimore 👍

This set is great! I’m 70 in August, been to 38 shows over the years, and this really brought back the memories. Thanks for posting!
  • So much to listen to in this but — Bobby’s rhythm guitar in Terrapin is just perfect. The glue.
  • Growing up with the dead, as they did, was such a wonderful gift. Everyone leaving now.....old crowd thinned out..they were always fragile. Thanks Lord

I wouldn't start hearing these songs live for almost another year. First Dead show was 5-6-78 at the University of Vermont. I was there when they played this at the last Winterland show on New Year's Eve and I was at Brent's first show when they played in San Jose. Just got my Terrapin t-shirt in the mail today. Back in Terrapin for good or ill again.
  • I saw the deàd in October 77 when terrapin was new. Every show after that for 9 shows after that they played terrapin station each time nothing but a masterpiece.,

i miss the way bob and jerrys tones (plus the keys and other instruments) would meld together and create incredible sonic atmospheres like the ones on this sbd. they were really connected in spring 77

34:30 Jerry wailing into the beginning of Not Fade Away. Such a strong show. Tears, man.
  • Having listened to hundreds of live dead shows, this one ranks incredibly high. Such a clean bootleg, great energy that night, great set list. Thanks for posting.

Excellent version of the Turtle song... and the Official State Turtle of Maryland is the Terrapin.
  • My favorite GD song! I had a dream one evening of Jerry as a white haired old man. He was outside by himself through a sliding glass door on a slab of concrete in a chair he sat and his manner was as if he was waiting for someone to find him there. He smiled and spoke. I awoke and I’ve never forgotten that dream. U are a vision. Ty
