  • Greatest endgame player of ALL TIME ??.The likes of KASPAROV ,FISHER,TAL,KARPOV,ALEKHINE,TAL, The List is Endless were some IDIOTS O ENDGAME? What NONSENSE.
  • @tatsuyasigh1906
'You would find a way to hang a rook in this position' 😂😂😂 that one got me

2 days ago (after Magnus won the +0.05 endgame against Alireza in Norway chess) I googled for the most drawn positions Magnus won, but i missed the analysis. When i saw this video, i clicked immediately
  • Endgame wizardry has always been to me, the most fascinating and impressive aspect of GM chess. Amateurs like myself can bust out cool sacrifices every once in a while, but orchestrating a ~30 move plan that culminates in “Opponent to move and lose” is pure chess dominance.

(In regards to 13:42 ) Not a firefighter but when it comes to forest fire mitigation they actually do "fight fire with fire" in the form of "controlled burns." Basically they find problem excess wood and foliage that can cause a fire to spread uncontrollably and burn it on their own terms :)

My favorite endgame of Carlsen is his ridiculous save against Kramnik in the London Classic 2010. I remember reading Carlsen describing how he waited for Kramnik to return to the board to make his move and making sure he sighed when playing into a fork as if he had given up the game because he saw the resulting endgame, while both winning for Kramnik and looking easy, was in practice hard to win and he wanted Kramnik to play his move as fast as possible without thinking to much about it. Kramnik recently talked about it and it was obvious it is one of those games that still haunts him to this very day.

Now I can’t skip to the time stamp where Magnus plays. :(
  • @diogovale1281
One day you will have Carlsen on your podcast and that will be awesome
  • @sreerudhrhp7194
You have surpassed agadmator on sub count. It is as of today GothamChess became the most subscribed chess channel in the world. GG levy.
  • @imaloony8
Levi: “You’re worth more than a Queen.” Also Levi: “You would find a way to hang a rook in this position.”
  • @gearygipson6204
The way levy personifies the actions of these moves, into like a conversation really helps me understand the thinking behind an attack or defense. And I wish everyone in chess would do it because it's also kinda entertaining
  • @dengthebest
hahaha "you would find a way to blunder a rook in this endgame... and there are no rooks, thats how bad you are". DIED at that, Levy you legend
  • @wnihaunter3943
Hey levy, this is your best video yet in terms of educational value imo. Can you do more endgames pls? Been watching for a year now, love your stuff.
  • @reef6826
I was getting my destruction to level 100 in Skyrim, by zapping my horse with lightning bolt. Thanks for being on my other monitor levy.
  • @michaelhart7569
29:31 I remember watching that game at the time. Carlsen knows he is almost certainly the best endgame player of all time. But he doesn't pretend to any false modesty, and is able to joke about it. Total respect.
  • @meh2846
Levy, what I learned from this video is to focus on my endgames pawn structure bcuz most of my games leads to that since I play aggressive . I went play some matches and I was seeing what you were talking about.
  • @zakeda5418
Correction to 15:43. Tablebase evaluates the position as winning, with a depth to zeroing of 78 halfmoves after which a capture happens and then it's a mate in 11. 50 move rule requires total of 100 halfmoves so there is no draw here with perfect play
  • @MeMe-nm7jr
Levy, it would be cool if you did a series where each video highlights a player and a few of their games. We often only see highlight games but I think it would be cool to see specific videos devoted to various top-tier players.
  • @passtheyaoi
levy reads you a bed time story about magnus carlsen, the guy who was like really good at chess
  • @PWzhouster
That was an awesome awesome video and I hope you do more of these kinds of videos: breaking down the tendencies and strengths of the top players! This really highlights Magnus' end-game prowess at a level that we noobs can understand a little bit of, and maybe in the future you can cover other player's strengths and specialties in certain structure/openings?
