As the Treasury Department continues sending out stimulus checks to millions of American, some may never get to the hands of those who need it most. Under the CARES Act, anyone with a judgment against them for any private debt could lose their stimulus to a debt collector. CBS MoneyWatch reporter and video producer Irina Ivanova joined CBSN to discuss what kind of debt could be putting your coronavirus relief money at risk.

That's some bs if your helping the people help them. Seems like all the help are going to big companies. Nothing is ever free especially from the government

I think if it is money to help the population. if that's the case many people will lose their apartment like me. the needy should be allowed to receive this money.

I feel like men who owe Childsupport should get a break. Like how is a man supposed to survive if he lost his job to this. Even if he pays back pay they should still give him his check. What about his need to survive too ? Even though the child needs it no matter what but in this situation the mother has received a stimulus check for this same reason. I just don’t get the logic of giving people help but leaving people out who are in need too (father’s) not every man neglects their child some people pay there Childsupport plus do extra out they pocket when the kids come over

That doesn’t even make sense that they can take even a penny of this stimulus. That is the sole reason for the stimulus. The stimulus is for one reason and one reason only to aid in the crisis not to pay back debt with creditors. That is so stupid and anyone that doesn’t feel the same way is stupid themselves. Even back child support shouldn’t be collected from this money in my opinion. I have debt in collections and if they were to take for that reason I call that a criminal act in this time of crisis. They’ll get there money but my wife and I and my four children will starve to death and be homeless. Makes no sense whatsoever. Even if you owed back taxes it should not be touched. Stupid
