Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

What Americans think of when people mention Hugh Laurie, House. What we Brits think of, "Row, Row, Row your boat, gently down the stream. Belts off, trousers down, isn't life a scream, Oiiiii"

Hugh Laurie has a strange (though wonderful) career. Us Brits know him for his comedy, mostly in Blackadder and A bit of Fry and Laurie, but since he went to America he's gone on to these serious dramas. It's a huge difference from what he used to do, but I'm glad he has received so much acclaim.

That interview was way to short. Hugh Laurie is too funny and intelligent for just eight minutes.

It’s always a breath of freash air when a late show has an intelligent and eloquent guest.

Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry and Rowan Atkinson. Nothing more needs to be said.

5:42 "If ISIS were halfway decent at their job, they would be opening a chain of donut shops." That is just absolutely hilarious.

It's amazing the difference when he is playing House and when he's himself. Even the voices are completely different.
  • "Hugh, we've got a role for you." Hugh - "Is my character's last name the name of the show?" "No" Hugh - "Then no, thanks."

The best Hugh Laurie quote: "If you could reason with religious people, there would be no religious people"

I remember Hattie McDanial (google Gone with the Wind if you don't know who that is) was asked why she, as a black woman consented to play a servant what the whole rest of black America was trying to change the stereotype. Her answer was, "I can get 500 a week to play it or $5 a week to do it." That cabbie that Hugh was talking about is the new Hattie McDanial.

This is one of the best interviews I've ever seen and Hugh Laurie was effortlessly funny, just relating ideas and experiences without "trying" to be funny.

Holy crap, that breastfeeding line had me in stitches. Simply masterful, Mr. Laurie!

As a Middle Eastern, I have a couple of Middle Eastern friends who are actors and most, if not all of their acting roles are either terrorists, shopkeepers, taxi drivers, or other stereotypically Middle Eastern jobs. In real life, most of my Middle Eastern friends are medical professionals (mainly pharmacists and doctors) lol. I never noticed this discrepancy until watching this video.
