This video covers:

💣 A chronology of the key political events, wars, and characters that both fuelled and shaped the Cold War.

💣 A look at the development of tensions between the US and the USSR from the end of World War Two and throughout the second-half of the 20th century.

💣 An introduction to key events that had the greatest influence on the progression of the Cold War.

The Cold War was a vast, global conflict that lasted from 1945 - 1991 and had a significant impact on many regions of the world.

Towards the end of World War Two, the communist Soviet Union and capitalist United States of America began to vie for dominance as they asserted themselves as global superpowers, capable of extending their influence worldwide.

From the Potsdam Conference to the fall of the Berlin Wall, this video charts the course of the Cold War, including Kennan's Long Telegram, the Berlin Airlift, the Sino-Soviet Alliance, the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War and the Soviet-Afghan War.

My grandfather told me he was in the Cuban Army as a officer during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He escaped to Florida by swimming from Cuba. He encountered many sharks and almost died. (He apparently knew Castros brother as a kid) He died recently, and we never knew his rank.
