A Little Taste Of Kong. The Bass Part Traditionally Played With This Song (while still quite cool and catchy) isn't quite as impressive as the more intricate main theme that is traditionally performed by Zappa's horn section (mothers of invention), so I interpreted that part of the song onto bass as best as I could and perform it to the best of my ability. Despite the mistakes and sloppiness (right hand's a bit slow, and I came in too early on the second theme), I'm still quite pleased with the results.

I chose to play along with the November 11th 1968 Fullerton version, mostly because there's a solid rhythm to it and my bass's tuning matches with it well. (Played on a 1973 Rickenbacker 4001).

This song was written and recorded by Frank Zappa and The Mothers Of Invention, and all credit goes to them.

  • After all the comments you left on my video, I had to come check out your channel. King Kong is my all time favorite Zappa composition. Nice job. Eight years later, are you still playing?
  • Zappa and Bob Weir have really similar voices and accents. Guess they're both raised in LA and that's why
