Little later than anticipated, but here it is, the introductory breakdown of Warhammer 40,000's Horus Heresy. With the semi-recent release of Games Workshop's new edition of The Horus Heresy, I wanted to talk about the grim darkness of the far future in a more digestible format for newcomers, and those unfamiliar with the brand. Rev up those chainswords, it's time to take the deep dive into why the Emperor of Mankind is a bad dad, and introduce Magnus the Red for an inevitable "Did Nothing Wrong" video.

Rome was possibly less than 100 years from discovering steam driven mechanisms when Europe collapsed on itself; I think it is very fair to say there was a dark age after Rome fell. Arabia picked up a lot of the slack, but it took the world a long time to realise the stability necessary for technology to explore new ideas again.
  • You know, I’d think you’d really like Girls’ Last Tour. It’s about two of the last humans exploring a ruined city.

Excellent video! Also some interesting sidenotes: >Lorgar being the catalyst behind the Heresy is absolutely supreme irony. The Emperor (a god in human form) is worshiped as, well, a god in human form by his son, who writes an immaculately crafted treatise on how the Emperor is a divine being and how mankind is lost without an object of faith (in this case the Emperor), causing the Emperor to rebuke him and humiliate him, causing Lorgar to seek gods worthy of worship (the Chaos Gods) and leading to the Heresy, resulting in the Emperor's permanent entombment upon the Golden Throne and him becoming an object of worship...which turns out to be the thing that keeps the Imperium together, complete with Lorgar's book (authorship censored) as its holy text, thus proving Lorgar right all along. If he weren't serving new masters and hadn't renounced his old book, he'd probably be immeasurably smug. >One of the survivors of Istvaan III was an absolute gigachad of an Emperor's Children Dreadnought by the name of Rylanor, who butchered all the traitors sent to kill him and then buggered off to some cave...only to be awakened millennia later by Fulgrim and some Chaos raiders looking for interesting things to loot and instead find themselves being turned inside out by Rylanor. As it turns out, he was guarding an unexploded virus bomb and had been waiting for Fulgrim to return. Fulgrim offered him the chance to join him, and Rylanor's response? "Never! All we have left between us is that we will die together! I am Rylanor of the Emperor's Children. Ancient of Rites, Venerable of the Palatine Host, and proud servant of the Emperor of Mankind, beloved by all. I reject you now and always!" before detonating the bomb. Though Fulgrim survived by virtue of being a Daemon Primarch and Rylanor was sadly destroyed, Fulgrim carries this shame to this very day. >Prior to the Big Oof of Prospero, Magnus and his Thousand Sons had been summoned to the Council of Nikea to decide the future of psykers in the Space Marines. Unfortunately, fate conspired that on his defence was a very wise and learned White Scar who couldn't speak very good High Gothic and was stuck with a rather useless interpreter, whilst on the attack was an exceptionally stubborn douchebag of a Space Wolf who even the rest of the Wolves thought was kind of an arse. (Also a Magnus Did Nothing Wrong would be a very good video). >It's implied that the 11th Primarch was purged for consorting with Malal, the 5th Chaos God (now lost to weird legal issues between GW and his creator) and the god of self-destructive rebellion and defiance, a god so fundamentally wrong that even though he's by far the weakest and least "popular" of the Ruinous Powers, the other 4 are TERRIFIED of him because his power essentially cancels out any other god. >Speaking of the Lost Primarchs, whilst the traitor Primarchs are recorded as eternal enemies of the Imperium, the two Lost were erased from all records and have basically been completely memory holed, with the last Loyalists who have any memory of them being Guilliman (who will not speak of them) and Malcador (who is dead). Whatever they did was considered worse than the Heresy to such a degree it has been completely wiped from history.

Maaan.. you know; yours is probably the only explanation of The Horus Heresy that I liked. I am not saying the others are bad, but yours is Straight Forward, Fun and Easy to Understand. 😅 Thanks man.
  • And remember kids, no matter what anyone tells you, Magnus did nothing wrong.
  • Thank god, a lore breakdown that isn't ten episodes at 5h a piece lol
  • @logancox3308
Anything to do with the alpha legoin should have an asterisks next to it cause who knows what their true allegiance is at any point in the timeline due to their primearchs having different views
  • @MEFelicia
Thank you. I'm one year into this lore and exploring everything I can get my eyes on...
  • Fine work Elucidating His Imperium Brother. May the Emperor bless you.

I got into this via the MTG commander decks, and it took way too long to find this video. I love those movie long videos some channels do, but I like to listen to a quick video after work and couldn't find a quick explanation on what this thing that gets mentioned every 5 minutes in some videos is.
  • @davidtran1360
good vid. really shows the juicy bits and doesnt drag.
  • Hi, you’re one of my favorite underrated YouTubers. I really liked your MHA videos and still like them, but hearing your voice really encouraged me to check some of your other videos, like this new one, the G.I Joe toy rant, Attack on Titan ending, and the Did Nothing Wrong Light video. I never thought I would ever watch videos related to those, now granted, you didn’t make me fully get Invested in those franchises but that’s okay and not what I’m looking for. I really enjoy your content and hope to see more in the future.
  • Have to tell you.... .... This universe is so unbelievably, indescribably bleak.... We'd be all Lamenters!
  • @Stormy_Boi

  • @uctuyenle4649
Though I don't play wh, i enjoy the lore second to cardfight vanguard 's lore and runeterra. There are so many interesting details that intertwine and are somewhat mythic. Except for bushiroad blowing up chrono jet dragon in the most anticlimactic way possible and basically made the planet cray suffered for thousands of years aside from the new dragon empire who had nothing but luck. Even the new "deity" egg has also fallen into the nation
