Shoes and inserts don’t work for people with severe flat feet. I tried everything. Recently I had major reconstructive surgery and it was the best thing I’ve done in my life! The recovery may be a lil long and painful but the results are well worth it.

I had my surgery done in February it’s now July and I can finally say I wake up with no pain and can walk w no pain, I’m still recovering and there’s still some positions I can’t do with my foot since it’s still healing but to all my flat footed people find an orthopedic and talk about it! It really is life changing recovery is hard but worth it in the end!

I just had flat foot surgery and bunion removal on my right foot 10 days ago. Very little pain after surgery because I was prescribed pain killers . I'm now in a cast for six weeks. Hopping in a cast is horrible for me. And also sleeping on my back is killing me. Upon leaving the hospital I was given crutches I fell first week then I got a walker so much better. The worst part about being in a cast for me is using the bathroom. I go to see my doc two days.

I've really appreciated your insight on various foot conditions. I had a podiatrist recommend the traditional flat foot correction surgery. He didn't really spend a ton of time with me on it, so it scared me to consider it. I've recently had surgery for another foot issue, but I've had so many problems arise because of my flat feet lately that I'm wondering if this is an option I should consider in the future. I'm still wanting to give the custom inserts a shot, but I keep getting them made to where they're either way too stiff or too soft and they don't include a morton's extension for my arthritis.

I’m honestly scared of surgery but my feet always hurt when I stand or walk for long periods of time and it’s a painful hurt. I’ve tried insoles that help with arch support but it feels like it hurts so much more
  • @jazzyrose66
I really enjoyed your crital thinking in regards to this issue, I have a collapsed arch in right foot and flat foot on left, I use both a custom orthodic and sports orthotic inserts with top of the line asics gel kayanos for pronation...iam a daily exerciser and quite athletic, yet am aging...with weight bearing use particularily running the custom orthodic ($480)is not enough cushioning so i wear the sports orthodic ($30)and I am able to withstand a 1km run, however I am finding that I am experiencing pain long after activity that begins in arch goes into the soleus, calf, medial and lateral sides of knee up into hamstring and buttocks, I am starting to get concerned that I may be causing myself early onset osteoarthritis due to over use with misalignment...from eatching your video I will keep doing the measures I am currently, aim to increase swimming and non weight bearing exercise and in a few years reassess if I want to run the risk of surgery. thankyou very much.

Last summer I had my first double arthrodesis surgery and I’m about to have my second one so I’m glad that there is an updated cideo

I have flat feet. I used to buy all kind of comfortable shoes. I did support with a professional. Nothing works but recently I used shoes 👠 with hight heel around 4cm and the first time I could do shopping and walk for more than 5 hours at the Mall without stopping and go home without back pain or feet pain. Since then I thrown away all my old shoes and buy all with heel even training ones with high heel. Hope this help some of you
  • When my feet hurt, I walk on toes. Arch the foot up little like a ballerina and walk. It helps my back posture as well. Less pain or i can wear boots or wedge shoes.
  • I’ve had flat feet for years and after 2 ankle surgeries the pain has gotten worse. I was informed yesterday that I will need reconstruction surgery for my flat feet but don’t know if the recovery is worth it
  • @TumblingWolf
Would the surgery help with my post tib tendinitis from over pronation? I’ve done tons of PT to build up my post tib but i’m a gymnast and all star cheerleader and i’ve been getting tons of issues lately with my ankles from my flat feet. They don’t make cheer shoes wide enough for my feet. I have nice asics and powerstep orthotics and i feel like i’m getting more issues..
  • @musacekic
Does that pin stay there forever? Would you be able to do sports after recovery?
  • @shaimaakhamis1494
May I ask, is there any chance that after the intensive rexonstructive surgery, the foot starts to get painful again? I have had my reconstruction surgery 4 years ago. Now, my ankels are painful with a burning sensation along with the whole foot. What should I be doing?
  • i just saw a doctor today and he suggested that if i really wanted the surgery i could either have it done on my right leg and keep my left leg alone because i have a stronger ankle on my left or do both. I chose the do both option and the doctor said it’s a 70% that the surgery might help and it is not a small matter because i am still in my teenage years. The surgery he wanted to do was a keyhole surgery at the back of my ankle and insert a plastic-like polymer into my foot in the front. I have a SPEC scan coming up soon in 2 weeks time, i have tried OMEPRAZOLE and DICLOFENAC but every time i take it i get an extremely painful stomach ache and watery stool for hours. I have an extra lodged inside right behind my ankle in both feet.
  • @zwebackshyper9307
my dad is in his late 50s and is about 5'3" and 125 lbs he has flat feet and he uses inserts but still experiences awful pain in pretty much his entire lower body feet, ankles, calves, knees, lower back all that because of his flat feet would you think it's a good idea to have that pin surgery for him? my brother had the 2nd surgery you talked about where he was in a cast for a few months some years ago and it worked really well for him but my dad cant really have that surgery because the recovery time is too long
  • @kkauffmann8545
We were given the option of ProStop for our son’s very flat feet-he is only six. It looks like a conical plug with a threading that is put between a different area of the foot than the pin. It is supposedly very minimal surgery-walk that day... back to normal activity after a week or so. Is this something you have seen before?
  • @anitamurkes9511
What to do when having custom orthodics and good shoes there is still a lot of pain and leg pain ? (150 pound woman, no arthritis) Also: What do you think of stem cell treatment for ligaments of flat feet ?
  • i had this surgery secondary to a ankle fracture surgery 9 month before. All I can say is I wish I had never done it. I have done so much physical therapy at home and in clinic. Now they are talking about hardware removal. I have completely given up hope for my foot and will have to purchase two pairs of shoes in different sizes and widths for the rest of my life.
