Not many can make a 90.000 capacity Wembley Stadium feel like an intimate little gig. Uncle Dave is one.

One of the saddest stories in music: as a drummer Dave lost his frontman, and as a frontman, Dave lost his drummer.

"You can sing a song to 85,000 people and they'll sing it back for 85,000 different reasons." -Dave Grohl It's still haunting to me that Dave Grohl recorded the first Foo Fighters album virtually alone, in the same studio Nirvana recorded their last song...carrying the torch...Everlong. RIP Kurt Cobain and Taylor Hawkins.

“Breathe out so I can breathe you in.” One of the best lines the man has ever written. The studio version of this song is much faster but this performance was special.

Please do check out the studio version of this, it is very different.

This presentation was a gift for everyone who knows the original song. You can see that at all times the whole audience is just waiting for the song to "start". There is tension, and there is awe. Usually singers will start a song like that, and then after a verse or two, will fall into the original song. Dave had the insight of teasing everyone during the whole song, and just "release it" at the end, for the finishing chorus. It does not have the same impact for a first time listener of the song, the hook is different (it can still be a strong hook, but different nonetheless). One thing you can say about Dave; his main goal on the stage is to have fun. He knows that if he's having fun, everybody is having fun. Great rendition of his own song.

Legends say, Dave Grohl is chewing the same gum since 1991 :)

If he wasn't a legend before, the night he fell off a stage in Sweden, told the crowd not to leave and he'd be back, went to the hospital, got the brake set and casted, and came back and finished the show from a chair cemented it.

4:08 That's Dave's thing. Just straight good rock and roll, no special effects, no messing with anything, he's not concerned about perfection as he believes rock should be imperfect, he even records/makes everything on an old analog music board from the 70's. He's just all about pure rock and roll. As a side note the first Foo Fighters album there was no band, Dave recorded the vocals and played all the instruments himself and recorded them separately and mixed them together. Not many have done this and it was a huge album he put together the band afterwards, I know Prince did this as well and Prince loved the Foo Fighters and one of Dave's life highlights he said was when Prince called him and asked if he could play a Foo Fighters song during Princes Super Bowl half time show. Prince also allowed Foo Fighters to cover his song Darling Nikki which is rare for Prince to allow anyone to cover his songs.

I really enjoy your reactions. Dave Grohl is a national treasure. A talented musician with an incredible career…and awesome stories to go with it. Having to deal with not 1, but 2 intense band tragedies and survive in the music business. I’ve listened to his audio book several times! A father of 3 girls (each of whom you can tell he adores although I’m sure they don’t appreciate his coolness) and still tours with his mom. He is also quite charitable, often cooking in public (BBQ) and giving food away. A true music ambassador and all-around great person.. Times Like These (a few, good emotional, live versions around), The Pretender, Monkey wrench, Learn To Fly, etc… He also does a mean Baker Street cover!

Dave "honours" his audience. He understands the meaning these songs have to each member of that crowd. That is what is so special about the Foo Fighters. The vibe at those concerts is like you have a friend playing a local gig and you can't imagine not going and supporting them. Never felt anything like it outside of actual local punk and metal bands. Its like everyone knows them...
  • @LordRahl1975
Saw them live last month and they were amazing. Your next foo song should be The Pretender or Monkey Wrench.
  • @timtam79
Times Like These is my favorite Foo Fighters' song. The acoustic version is spectacular.
  • @user-ro8qq7nx3t
He just wasn't in foo fighters, he is FOO FIGHTERS, he basically did played all the instruments and did the vocals when foo fighters was created
  • @Tincad4
I feel like the electric and acousic versions of this song are so different and yet the same at the same time! this combines them so well.
  • @andyh0428
Absolute must is the official video for “Learn To Fly” with a couple of special guest cameos 😁 Other great Foo’s songs to check out include: Times Like These, The Pretender, Come Back & Walk
  • And he's an even better drummer. Dave Grohl is so talented and emotionally able to connect with people, it's crazy. If you watch any old Nirvana videos, he looks like a little kid on drums. Amazing how far he has come.

I was at that show. It was awesome. I saw them 2 weeks ago at Villa park also, both shows were excellent!

This version of Everlong is special to Foo Fighters fans who are already intimately familiar with the album version. I think it may not be the best intro to Foo Fighters/Dave Grohl, really.
